Editorial Review:
In this family-friendly holiday film, all Ethan and Hallie want for Christmas is for their parents to get back together. Catherine (Parenthood's Harley Jane Kozak) and Michael (Chicago Hope's Jamey Sheridan) have been divorced for a year and now Catherine's dating a guy no one can stand, including her mother Lillian (Lauren Bacall). Michael, meanwhile, has opened a successful diner, but he misses Catherine. When Hallie (Thora Birch, years before American Beauty) overhears Catherine tell Lillian she and Tony (Kevin Nealon) are planning to marry, she and Ethan (Sweet Home Alabama's Ethan Embry) come up with a plan to strand their parents alone together on Christmas Eve. Hallie even asks Santa (Leslie Nielsen) to help them out. All I Want for Christmas doesn't pack any surprises, but it's suitable for all ages and features lively cameos from Andrea Martin as Lillian's housekeeper and Renée Taylor as Catherine's rodent-fearing wedding planner. --Kathleen C. All I Want for Christmas [Region 2] Reviews:
Not All I want For Christmas
2009-11-10 - I love Christmas movies and was excited to find this one last year. I had never seen it before, but judging from the reviews I guess I expected more. It is okay, but I can think of so many holiday movies with more interesting storylines and more appealing characters. I can see that it would be appealing to preteens. I guess I've grown tired of scheming kids in movies and though I had no sympathy for the mother's boyfriend, I was not really entertained by their plot that hijacked him in an ice cream truck and had his car towed away. I love a great holiday comedy, but when I think of the really great ones, I can't say that this one comes close. I would have given it 2 1/2 stars if I could, but I gave it the benefit of a doubt and rounded up instead of down. Maybe that was because I liked Lauren Bacall's role.
I just watched it again this week to see if it was any better than I thought it was last year. My copy is going to be donated to a local thrift store. I don't think I need to see it again.
Mom's favorite
2009-10-15 - This is my Mother's favorite movie. When her VHS went kaput I bought her the DVD. She was thrilled.
Great Buy!
2009-09-14 - My movie arrived right on time. This is a hard to find dvd (it came out when I was a little kid) and I was thrilled to get it for such a good price. I would definitely buy from this seller again.
Movie Review
2009-09-10 - Movie was great and was the one I was looking for. Named the people who starred in it so I knew I was purchasing the right one. Thanks
Positive family message
2009-01-20 - All I Want for Christmas is one of our family favorites that we have to watch every year. It's a wonderful Christmas movie, with lots of adventure and laughter for the kids and adults. And in a world where so many marriages are ending in divorce, this movie shows a couple who were divorced, coming back together and healing their family. What an amazing story of reconciliation! This is a clean, fun, positive family movie.
