  • Editorial Review:
WATCH OUT is the story of Jonathan Barrows, a man who falls in love with himself, literally. He is attracted to his own body, carries out an erotic relationship with a blow-up doll that resembles him, and takes pleasure in rejecting the advances of his many admirers. He descends into a world of carnivorous priests and Prozac-popping Polish prostitutes and eventually assassinates the world's most popular pop-diva. You strange creatures, Barrows declares, you are nothing more to Me than a meal at the fast-food restaurant of life. But who will end up being devoured? Filmed in an eye-popping style that will shock the most jaded of viewers, WATCH OUT is based on the best-selling novel by Dr. Joseph Suglia and is destined to become a cult classic.

    Watch Out Reviews:
    A Mess 1 Star Review
2009-12-12 - If you're in the mood for a film arranged around the relentless, overenunciated narration of a surpassingly bland main character, "Watch Out" is the film for you. I beg everyone else looking for the kind of shocks and outrageousness behind this film's advertising campaign not to make the mistake I did -- put on a blindfold and pick out anything by Russ Meyer, Herschell Gordon Lewis or Guy Maddin and count your blessings.

You Watch Out! 5 Star Review
2009-11-27 - There's been a lot of buzz about this actor Matt Riddlehoover (one very easy on the eye man) and this director Steve Balderson. I had to check it out for myself. The disc contains some 4+ hours of material. The film - with and without commentary - plus over an hour of bonus video blogs. I've seen a lot of movies, but nothing quite like this. I'm still trying to absorb what I saw and heard. This is a keeper to watch again and again and well worth the price of admission. Act 1 is way-over-the-top-bizzaro-titillating comedy. I kept thinking - where is all this leading? Act 2 take an unexpectedly darker turn until the end. There's ample nudity - OK, more than ample. Someone ask Matt Riddlehoover if he did his own "stunts" and he said "why, yes I did." I'd say this film is a must see to believe, but that's just my opinion. I'll be waiting for Part 2!
Sidenote: click on Steve Balderson's name.

    The Narcissist 5 Star Review
    2009-10-27 - "Watch Out"

    The Narcissist

    Amos Lassen

We all know someone like Jonathan (Steve Balderson, who also directed and wrote the film). He is a university professor that is totally in love with himself--so much so that he cannot find sexual release with anyone aside from himself. He makes love to photos of himself and he even tapes a picture of his face to a love doll with which he has wonderful sex. It seems his parents have so traumatized him and this is what has caused his self obsession.
This is quite an original film and Matt Riddlehoover gives quite a performance as Jonathan. Jonathan is good looking and when he hollers about how much he loves himself, you kind of want to cheer him along. He has managed to answer the question of who one has sex with when he is the best looking one available. The best thing is that we get to watch. Jonathan is not interested in men or women--he is in a class all by himself and perhaps that is what gives the film its black humor. There is a lot of sexual excess here which leads one to question the way the film hits the viewer. I personally thought it was very, very funny. Jonathan is nude a lot through the film and he does not hesitate showing us what he feels makes him so special. He may be sordid but he sure is handsome (and his body is very nice too).
