  • Editorial Review:
For many serious music fans Led Zeppelin were simply the greatest rock band ever. This is the critical review of the four-year period, which saw them rise from obscurity to superstardom. In that short time the band produced four legendary albums. Inside Led Zeppelin features rare performance footage of Zeppelin on stage, behind the scenes interviews and the incisive views of a leading team of music critics, writers and working musicians. The result is an authoritative and comprehensive independent critical analysis, which uncovers the secrets behind music, which conquered the world. Also featured is a rare performance by Led Zeppelin of Eddie Cochrans Lets Have a Party.

Inside Led Zeppelin a Critical Review 1968-1972 Reviews:
Very good to know thier music of the earlier stage 4 Star Review
2005-10-17 - I thought the DVD was about their backstage story, but it was not and it is very nicer than expected.
The DVD introduces selective numbers from thier first four albums which is from Led Zeppelin I to Four Symbols with selective commentators.
Commentators who are musicians or music journalists provide professional view, picking each piece of their music.
And of cource their performance and sound are put between comments. All performance was live not recording, it might be because of copyright, but anyway I think it was better. But only "Immigrant Song", maybe, should be the other take.

It is just personal preference but I would like them to pick Moby Dick from II,Friends and BRON-Y-AUR STOMP from III, The Battle of Evermore from For Symbols.
And some commentators called them "Heavy Metal" band, I don't think they call or like to be called their music "Heavy Metal". They should be called, Um, the band or the wild band or, may be "Led Zeppelin" it is.

Not bad, some vital information and rare footage of Zep 3 Star Review
2005-04-18 - I thought this insider DVD wasn't bad. Some of the same commentators as the Deep Purple Inside DVD. Pretty much the same setup. Start with Led Zeppelin I through Led Zeppelin IV with commentary from various UK session men and critics (most I've never heard of here in the US). They talk about various songs with video clips none of which is shown all the way through. The songs are all live from BBC or Australian footage. The one thing that I got from this DVD was the fact that Jimmy Page ripped off the Stairway to Heaven intro chord progression from the band Spirit's song Taurus. It's on Spirits first album and you can hear it on the free audio sample. I'll never listen to Stairway the same again.

    Stay Away 1 Star Review
2005-03-27 - The majority of this DVD consists of comments & interviews with critics and musicians having no connection to LZ. The commentary is uninformative, unless you know nothing about the group. The live footage is only brief clips, with no complete songs. If you want to see Zeppelin live, buy any of the other authorized DVD's ("Song Remains the Same", etc.). You will regret spending money on this one.

Led Zeppelin 101 4 Star Review
2005-02-25 - This is one of those DVD's that seemingly come out of nowhere.
Most of the live band footage, Zep fans will recognize from the
"special features" of the double disc set from last year. Audio wise, most of what you will hear is from the BBC sessions. While there is no "unearthed" footage, it is still great to see and hear the old interviews. Hearing Bonham's voice is interesting on it's own, nevermind what he's saying.
What is excellent about this DVD is the breaking down of individual tracks from the first 4 Zep albums. Deconstructing the songs gives us great insight
into Zeppelin's creative process. Musicians will love the little guitar lessons sprinkled throughout the disc. Although, some of the riffs provided are WRONG (ie. Stairway).
This disc is a great primer for anyone with a burgeoning intrest in
Zeppelin, or rock and roll for that matter. Finally, Led Zeppelin is
getting the credit it deserves. THE MOST INFLUENTAL ROCK BAND EVER!

The Best Led Zeppelin DVD out there 5 Star Review
2005-02-22 - Have u ever wanted something that would tell all about Zep in 1 DVD, well, this is the DVD for you! It has everything, from analysis from critics to rare footage of Led Zeppelin performing on stage!

It is the greatest, go check it out!
