Editorial Review:
Experience the lightning of Led Zeppelin's 1973 Madison Square Garden concert-and enter the dreams and backstage lives of one of rock's all-time best-selling bands! Year: 1976 Director: Peter Clifton, Joe Massot Starring: Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, John Paul Jones
Description of Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same [Blu-ray]:
For Led Zeppelin fanatics, this 1976 feature The Song Remains the Same is a treasure of searing live performances, particularly welcome in light of the sad scarcity of such visual material from the band's great decade. Despite the group's road weariness after a long tour, their final, three-night stand at Madison Square Garden in 1973 was full of the old power. Performances of "No Quarter," "Whole Lotta Love," "Black Dog," "Dazed and Confused," and "Stairway to Heaven" underscore Zep's charisma. Trouble is, you don't get an unbroken performance here. Viewers have to wade through a mishmash of documentary insight into the lives of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones, as well as fantasy sequences supposedly inspired by the thoughts and fantasies of the band's individual members. It's mostly garish and silly, but there are some nice elements, especially insights into the late Bonham's life. The DVD doesn't offer much in the way of add-ons (a theatrical trailer is about it), but there is also enhanced viewing for 16 x 9 televisions. --Tom Keogh
Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same [Blu-ray] Reviews:
Get "Spinal Tap" instead, much funnier
2009-12-29 - This is a bloated, self-indulgent, boring mess. When this film came out, I remember thinking that if this
is the great Led Zeppelin, then they are quite overrated. Some of the songs are way too long, the video
sequences are almost laughable and Plant is either having a bad night or is already struggling to be the
Plant of a few years earlier. Get the excellent double DVD "Led Zeppelin" instead - way, way better.
It not only shows the band at various points in their fairly brief history but does indeed demonstate
what a terrific group they actually were. In its wake, "Song" is now useless.
A Fan Must
2009-11-27 - If you are a fan of Led Zeppelin this is a must. Think it was good at the theater, try it on your 50 " HD with the 5.1 selected. This is a return to the days of Rock. Where a Les Paul cries, a blues singer screams , and a rhythm section pounds. What a relief from the hip-hop pop of today.
BEHIND THE SCENES- AND ON
2009-11-09 - Outstanding. The "Rockumentary" shows the footage from Led Zeppelin's concert in New York city as well as a bit from their personal lives. The viewer gets an idea of what it's like from their end of the tour as well as some of the most outstanding music ever in concert. Most noteworthy is the drum solo from "Moby Dick" from the late John Bonham. It is long, but anything but boring.Overall, this is evidence of why their will never again be quite a decade like the 1970s for music.
1976 Led Zeppelin Concert dvd.
2009-10-17 - This was a popular film, when it came out in the mid 70's, Led Zeppelin, performing live at Madison Square Garden. Good concert footage, and sound quality, cut with some fantasy sequences, and behind the scenes footage, makes for a good over all concert experience. Featuring some of Led Zeppelin's best songs as well.
Led Zeppelin
2009-04-19 - I bought this Led Zeppelin the Song Remains the Same for my son and he loves it.........thank you
