Editorial Review:
Deluxe edition includes a rare up close and personal documentary of Lenny as never seen before. Watch as he takes you on a journey through the streets of his beloved hometown, New York City, discussing the many inspirations and decisions that led to the creation of his 8th studio album.
Description of It Is Time for a Love Revolution:
Lenny Kravitz didn't reinvent the wheel for his eighth album--hardly a surprise from an artist who's long been accused of filtering the music of decades past through his own discerning muse. Kravitz is still clearly more interested in crowd pleasing than fishing for rock critic accolades, whether seasoning the rollicking "Bring It On" with shimmering doses of Anishka Shankar's sitar, or coloring "Good Morning" with Beatles-esque harmonic flourishes as did ELO long before him. The openly proselytizing "If You Want It" sets his praises of Jesus to a forceful mix of early Led Zepplin acoustic atmospherics and Jimmy Page-ish riffs, a formula that's escaped too many other Creed-obsessed Christian rockers. The layered vocals 'n' guitars of the ambitious sprawl "Long Sad Goodbye" are too defiantly bluesy to be merely chalked up as echoing Queen – or is it Muse? – while the funky groove of "Dancin' Til Dawn" would've done J. Geils proud. With Kravitz playing virtual one man band on most of the tracks, it's an album that again argues he's an encyclopedic master of primal rock rhythms and hooks. And, like his best work, this is a collection where form often willfully trumps function. --Jerry McCulley
It Is Time for a Love Revolution Reviews:
modern rock & roll
2009-10-27 - I got this at a good price & was not disappointed. Some tracks are excellent, some not so much. Maybe greatest hits would be better. If he really wants to be like The Beatles, he needs to make make every track of consistent quality.
AMAZING !
2009-09-02 - It's a great album from Lenny ... you can buy it the closed eyes !
Nearly unlistenable.
2009-07-31 - Lenny Kravitz is amazingly talented but unfortunately, his track record is spotty and his albums often hit or miss. Though this was lauded by critics, there's a reason it didn't go anywhere commercially. With often ridiculously amateurish lyrics and paper-thin songs that lack melody and structure, this often sounds more like a geeky teenager's demo than a polished rock star of his stature. With the exception of one or two songs, the tracks simply don't make a strong impression, unless you're a fan of christian rock or want to relive your Led Zeppelin days. Stick to his "Best of", a true winner.
Lenny does it again!
2009-05-05 - This album is great. If you're a Lenny fan then don't miss this one. You'll love it. I hope Lenny plays some shows in the USA soon. I can't wait to hear some of this material live. He's touring everywhere around the world. No USA dates so far. Bottom line: buy this album.
Good CD
2009-04-01 - Amazon shipped this quickly and it's one of Lenny's better efforts. I would recommed it to anyone who enjoys his talent. I play it often.
