The film follows 22 individuals who are all at the hotel for different purposes but share the common thread of anticipating Kennedy's arrival at the primary election night party which would change their lives forever. Bobby (Widescreen Edtion) Reviews:
This Shot at RFK Backfired 1 Star Review
    2008-07-07 - What a stinker!

One stereotyped 60's character after another is paraded onto a boring movie.

RFK is portrayed as the second coming (wait...wasn't JFK the 2nd coming...too bad Marilyn is dead, only she would be sure to know) and the answer to everythingthat Estevez and Papa Sheen and the rest of the Hollywood activist set believe is wrong with america. Gratuitous scenes of RFK with black people, but the movie gives patronizing roles to its black characters and has then live out stereotypes (typical white pinkolibs, eh?)

This is just another tribute to the overidealized 60s.

Barely worth 2 stars 2 Star Review
2008-07-02 - I should remove another star for changing the name of the busboy who cradled Kennedy in death. A real boring dud.

Bad Bad Bad 1 Star Review
2008-06-23 - Wow - was this bad. Unfocused and bad.

Estevez threw everything (and I do mean everything) against the wall to see what would stick. Nothing does.

CHADS. the Dodgers. VietNam. LSD. Adultery. Race relations. Unfulfilled marriages. Depression.

The depression comes from the hackneyed script (also by Estevez). It did for me. Bobby Kennedy is about the only thing that is the tertiary in this film. Even the clips of him campaigning don't fit in as they could or should. Let's not forget the historical facts that could have easily been worked into the story are so skewed and just plain made-up it's sad.

The acting is bland - for most of the parts. Is there anyone who said 'no' to a part in the movie? Oddly enough, Sharon Stone is one of the better people in it - and she is someone I think is normally talentless. But to be fair - she has little competition: Lindsay Lohan? Aston Kutcher? Demi Moore?? Yikes.

I didn't buy or rent - I saw it on cable, and the price was way to high.

    Amazing cast 5 Star Review
2008-06-16 - I loved this movie. it had the most amazing cast & I thought it was very well acted. I liked how they didn't have an actor portray Bobby but instead showed tv clips. I actually cried at the end. I would highly recommend this

INTERESTING AND MOVING 3 1/2 STARS! 3 Star Review
2008-06-08 - 'Bobby' deals with the lives of many people who were in the hotel where Robert Kennedy was shot in 1968. The film has several good performances and is broken into small stories about the various people at the hotel that day. I'm not sure how accurate this film is, but it works for the most part and it is somewhat emotion at the tragic finale.

Some of the stories are more interesting than others and it does seem to meander at time. Given the subject matter, the tone of the film seemed to be all over the place. It's definitely worth watching once.
