"Minutes to Midnight" is rock's most anticipated album of the year. This album redefines one of today's most adventurous, accomplished and acclaimed bands.
Minutes to Midnight Reviews:
Mins to Midnight is the best album to introduce Linkin Park to a newbie
2009-01-23 - I am not your typical Linkin Park fan.
I am decades older than anyone in the band but I know good music when I hear it.
This is Linkin Park's best album to date. When I heard who produced Minutes to Midnight, it made sense. R.Rubin does have that "Midas" touch and this album just proves that point further. Darn good call on Linkin Park to bring him in.
Yes, it does sound different than all their previous albums. And that's a good thing. Chester and Mike both have better control over their talented voices. There is more melody & singing than the teen-angst screaming which helped make them popular. First time I heard all that screaming on ONE STEP CLOSER, I thought, what a terrible song and knew I'd hate the band. My, how far I've come. Glad I kept an open mind or look at all that great L.P. music I would have missed-out on.
The transition from song to song on this album is much smoother than any of their past albums and very welcome by me. It's less rough and more polished. Don't get me wrong, I love the raw, emotional and deeply felt vocals in such songs as FAINT, CRAWLING, NUMB, IN THE END and a few more I can't recall right now.
It felt weird (but good) for me to listen to the album all the way through since I usually skip from song to song on their other albums.
Linkin Park's years of experience shines through here and it shows all they've learned from putting out their past music. They are now established, professional musicians and it's about time we recognized that.
Minutes to Midnight is proof of that due respect.
Uderrated
2008-09-04 - Yes... Minutes To Midnight definently has a different sound. Most of the songs have more of a rock feel to them then Hybrid Theory and Meteora's Nu-metal sound. There isn't as much screaming and rap, although there are a few songs such as "Given Up" and "Bleed it out" which are a lot like Linkin Parks old style. Personally, I think Linkin Park did an amazing job with thier new sound, with the exception of the cussing, even if it is edited on this version of the album.(hope they don't continue with that:() Overall, I think any Linkin Park fan can enjoy this cd. Highly Recommended!!
pretty good
2008-08-21 - I really don't like how much bands change by just one album, I think that's really stupid. But there is a lot of sad songs here. Good songs to sing along to. It's a pretty good album, but I do not recommended anyone wasting their money on it.
Revolution:
2008-04-20 - Fans, just get over it. Linkin Park has evolved. Understand that bands change and evolve. No, I don't own Meteora or Hybrid Theory. You are only bitter knowing what's to be missed. Linkin Park has come back; with something new to offer.
It has become more mature. Songs such as Leave Out All the Rest and The Little Things Give You Away prove it. So they're not as hardcore-metal anymore. Adjust to their change. I doubt they'll go back to their original sound because now starts a revolution in their era.
It starts with Wake, a standout with its tone and sentimental feeling. This song is where it starts. A new CD, a new beginning.
Songs like Given Up and No More Sorrow prove that though Linkin Park has evolved, it hasn't left behind its roots just yet. Linkin Park has replaced scream and rage with maturity and even optimism hidden underground of the dreary lyrics. It feels like a person tossed and turned and hit with the knocks of life, then crawling from the holes of despair to find a glimmer of light shining above them like a revelation, though not with a full recovery. It's when you feel you have sunk so low that the only direction to go is up. What rage and anger felt before was saved for the previous CDs. Songs like What I've Done and Shadow of the Day reflects that.
Valentine's Day is mournful, Hands Held High features on the emotions of human and political imperfection, Bleed It Out sounds entertaining and angsty, like Linkin Park acting in its "bad self." In Between is maturity and faces forgiveness, rejection, and guilt. In Pieces is something I didn't expect from Linkin Park; what sounds almost like a break-up song, dealing with the emotions of breaking "in pieces."
The Little Things That Give You Away is melancholy, sentimental, and mournful. Who doesn't like being ignored, mistreated, and betrayed?
In conclusion, Linkin Park has evolved and its music has gained new meaning. Though the proclaimed "good old days" of Linkin Park may be fading away, WAKE up to WHAT THEY'VE DONE and have NO MORE SORROW.
Different, but good
2008-01-05 - They sell a version with the cuss words cropped out. It's a very different take on the band, but keeping that in mind, pretty well done. I was just disappointed; to my knowledge no previous CD they have put out had cuss words in it. Can Linkin Park no longer portray their musical art and emotion without resorting to cussing? Still, it's solid rock and roll.
