Editorial Review:
Lisa Loeb started her career at the top with her No. 1 song "Stay (I Missed You)." Since then, she’s achieved Gold and Platinum sales, been nominated for a Grammy, and had her own television series on the Food Network. The Way It Really Is, her new album, chronicles life and love through 11 tracks – all featuring the insightful song-craft that is Loeb’s signature style.
The Way It Really Is Reviews:
Another great lisa loeb CD
2006-12-30 - I really enjoy Lisa's music and was very excited to get this cd. This isn't her best cd but it's not bad at all. Some really great songs
Fools like me, Probably,I control the sun... also check out Cake and Pie or hello lisa in my opinon they are her best work
LISA LOEB ROCKS!
2006-11-10 - I recently, believe it or not, became a Lisa Loeb fan. I remember her from way back when but never really purchased any of her music, until now, this album is fantastic and completely addictive, I can't stop listening!!
Lovely
2006-04-28 - With the exception of Cake _and_ Pie, I own all of Lisa's albums. This is, by far, her most musical, and, in my opinion, perhaps her best. She has truly matured since her earliest bubble gum under the coffee table ballads. The weakest track on the album may be "Diamonds," but it's a far cry from bad. If you're new to Loeb, buy the Best Of - but buy this album next.
3-1/2 stars -- Not her best, but good enough
2005-12-15 - Lisa Loeb appears unscathed after her breakup with Mr. Zappa (maybe she realized she didn't want to be related to people named Dweezil and Moon Unit?). Accompanying her trademark look is her trademark sound, which makes much of her latest offering, The Way It Really Is, stand out.
Things start off pretty okay, however, with "Window Shopping" and "I Control the Sun"; actually, I really think those two songs are skippable, despite everyone else seeming to like them. But there ARE some good songs to find, like "Lucky Me", "Diamonds" and the smooth "Try".
There are also two songs in the middle I can do without. I'm not sure what the point of "Accident" was, and "Probably" needs a much better chorus ("I probably love you"???). Oh, well; even though Lisa's capable of making better albums, the music on here is good enough to keep you interested. But improved lyrics would have made this a better album, and that's the way it really is.
