    Celebration: The Video Collection Reviews:
A must have!!! 5 Star Review
2009-11-18 - If you don't have any other Madonna's DVD, this is a MUST HAVE.
    I missed American Life

The Title says it all This DVD is a "Celebration" 5 Star Review
2009-11-18 - First let me say Bravo to this incredible dvd.I read that people say some of the quality on some of the video's is not so good but i must of bought a special copy because the quality on all 47 video's are superb. It starts off with the classic video Burning up then goes to Lucky Star,And finally Erotica & Justify My Love were released on dvd. My disapoinment is the video Justify My Love & They said that 1.There is new footage added to the video & There is not & 2. The video is censored at the end when the woman who is topless wearing just suspendors walks over to the guy and you see her breat & A nipple & There is a black bar over her breast(The original video has no black bar). What i don't get is that when Justify My Love was released on Vhs as a video single it is NOT edited at all so why edit the dvd years later when sex is something alot more accepted then it was when it wasn't censored on the vhs that i do own (I think they should of put an advisory sticker or you have to be 18 to buy it but don't censor a video EVERYONE HAS BEEN WAITING TO BE AVAILABLE). so back to all the positives,After the classic video Lucky Star we go into Like a virgin and after that video & 17 video's later we end disc 1 with I'll Remember. Then disc 2 starts wth Secret followed by Take a bow then Bedtime Stories into The UNedited version of Human Nature then The rare not shown alot video I Want You,followed by You'll see(many people don't know this song is a sequal to "TAKE A BOW" The video's follow each other) There is also a video for You'll see but it's sung in spanish Called (Veras)It's not the same video as You'll See but similar. Then you go into the next video The Haunting & Beautiful Frozen then Ray of light and then there are 17 more video's and it ends with the title song Celebration. I wish she would have added the following video's to make it a complete collection & The following video's have never been put on dvd. The list is as such:

1.Everybody 2.Holiday 3.Dear Jessie(Only aired in europe)4.This used to be my playground 5.Hey You 6.True Blue(The American Version,She released The eruopean version on This dvd which is gr8 but i wish she put both) 7.Veras(You'll see The spanish version & The Video is very different then the You'll see video,You cn see it on you tube) 8.Britney spears & Madonnas Me Against The Music 9.American life(Neither version is on the dvd or any dvd.I feel both of them should be released) 10.GHV2 Mega Mix Video(Her recored company made this incredible mega mix cd i am lucky enough to own it was a promotional thing only and video)11.Celebration Version 2(There is a 2nd video that has her daughter Lourdes in it wearing the Like a Virgin wedding dress & BoyToy belt,Pretty different video from the original) 12.Paradise(not for me) 13.Oh Father

All in All this is an outstanding collection ,I guess we all want more and that's why i'd love to have those additional 13 video's well make it 14 video's re-release Justify My Love UN-edited or maybe she could release just those 13 or 14 video's(Justify my love unedited) and call it "Lets Celebrate more" That would be a great sales angle & it would sell like crazy and make her even more $$$$$ money $$$$$. BUT i give this collection an A+++++++++++++++++++++++++ :-) :-) :-) :-) This is worth every $$$$$$$ Dime.I also HIGHLY recommend The video Collection 93-99.It has 14 Video's & has 5 video's not on the Celebration Collection. The Immaculate Collection DVD only has 1 video not on either of the other 2 collections and that's her amazing video Oh Father & Has The really awsome Live performance Vouge @ the 1990 MTV Awards show. So if YOU are a huge fan like me then all 3 collections is a must but 93-99 collection & Celebrations collection are very worth it.Very very very worth it!!!!!!

    ~Thanks Johno

Not As Good As It Should Have Been 3 Star Review
2009-11-16 - The concept was good: release 47 of Madonna's videos many for the first time in one package. The delivery was the problem. At over three hours spread over two single layer discs we get Madonna overload. This is not necessarily a bad thing because she has provided much of the pop culture soundtrack over the last three decades. The problem here is the video and sound quality.

The single layer discs do nothing for the picture quality of the videos. Many of them probably looked better in their original VHS format and the supposed Dolby 5.1 sountrack is also lacking in depth and power. Perhaps the greatest flaw with this set is that there is overt censoring on two of the most controversial videos (Justify My Love and Erotica. I remember when the songs came out and were available on VHS without the censoring and now almost 20 years later we are treated to black bars.

On the upside we do get some of the best and earliest works by some pioneer video directors. The videos showed a style that would be copied over the years over and over. Madonna was and is the standard setter for an entire generation of followers and her video collection deserved a much better treatment than it got in this Warner Brothers release.

Madonna's gift to all her fans! 5 Star Review
2009-11-16 - This is truly Madonna's gift to all her fans for their loyalty over the years! How wonderful to have all her favourite videos on this 2-disc compilation! I watch it all the time!

When "The Immaculate Collection" was released I was disapointed that 'Who's That Girl' & 'True Blue' were not on the Video (nor the Album) and then when the "93:99" video collection was released I was disapointed that 'Erotica' & 'Deeper & Deeper' were not included. Well disappointment no more because all the above listed videos plus all the other great ones like 'Burning Up'(her first studio video), 'Hollywood', 'Don't Tell Me', 'Love Profusion', 'Sorry', 'Give it to me', the recent 'Celebration' (made especially for this compliation) and so many more are all here. The only ones left off can either be found on the 1st two compliations listed above or are not fan favourites anyways. It is the fans who voted on which videos made the set and I thank them because they did an excellent job!

As for the pessimists who are complaining about the quality I honestly do not know what they are talking about because the quality is excellent. These people must be spoiled by high-tech to the point where they are not appreciative anymore! For any true Madonna fan, please disregard all those negative comments and appreciate this for what is is - the greatest Madonna video compiliation ever with excellent quality!

WARNING: Warner effed-up BIG TIME 1 Star Review
    2009-11-15 - I have read the reviews for this at all the major Amazon sites;
WEA, WMG, Warner Bro/WB International should be SHAMED into doing the right thing
this 'tribute' is nothing but a cynical insult to both Madonna AND her fans and nothing more a way to take your money
    'a bailout' for WARNER
I am going to see if I can get AMAZON.all to add this info to their generally glowing or neutral product comments

WORLDWIDE (using Bablefish) I find reviews on the CELEBRATION VIDEO are generally 4 out of 5 stars, but are weighted VERY heavy-far more than should be- in the 3,2 and especailly *1* star range set, where if it had been done right, a 99% 4 and 5 star rated set:

    1. the 2 discs are single layer everywhere, where dual layer would be just barely enough room if they were HQ= poor PQ =CHEAP RIPOFF!
    2. the discs are R0 NTSC world wide-this really riles the Europeans as they are used to R2 PAL which is a much sharper picture =CHEAP RIPOFF!
    3. The discs are censored for nudity, even in viva la France, for gods sake! CHEAP RIPOFF!
    4. PQ is generally lacking despite claims, the videos are not remastered and have not been upgraded and reformatted for WS, HD, and even videos shot in 16:9 are NOT anamorphically enhanced prehistoric, CHEAP RIPOFF
I do not know if Madonna shot any vids in HD-but it appears it would be irrelevant to WARNER BROS anyway, VHS type color bleed is complained about
The ancient 4:3 videos are all left in 4:3/1.33 mode for the 19th century square/tube televisions, when they should have been upconverted or improved and matted for WS televisions-not to even bring up HD
    5. The sound quality is poor-some have noted 'psuedo 5.1' CHEAP RIPOFF!
    6. Apparently WB were too cheap to put out a BR version-probably for the best as they know mobs of angry 1080p fans with 40 inch screens would march upon and burn WB HQ to the ground-as the sick job they did would become even
    MORE evident onscreen

NB: Apparently there is a one disc version in Japan-im sure it is no better

So instead of giving MADONNA a 21 gun salute farewell-as she has made them BILLIONS OF DOLLARS-they give her a one squirt water pistol salute
It would have been less expensive for them and more honest to just say "Eff-you Madonna-dont let the door hi yer ass on the way out of Warner HQ"
And "Hmm.........yeah-we can still bilk her fans out of millions of dollars by doing the bare minimum in effort in a send off package!"
Also, to save a buck, all discs for all territories worldwide where made by WMME in Germany (Warner Music Manufacturing Europe)
These discs take home video back to the prehistoric era-and where not crafted for HD or BR in any way shape or form-in other words
not looking at 2010 and beyond they chose pre 2000 VHS quality

I am not really much of a MADONNA fan at all-but when i heard of this I knew it was wrong because of the greed factor
MADONNA is an icon in music history, is likely a decent if shrewd person and an amazing artist. More to the point
    She has made Warner Bros BILLIONS-maybe trillions of dollars;
What a shiitty way for WMG to say "Thank you for all your years here at WB-Maddy"
