Bedtime Stories Reviews:
Madonna ... BEDTIME STORIES (1994)
2009-10-05 - In October of 1994, Madonna released her ninth album entitled, BEDTIME STORIES. This album features a completely different sound than her previous albums. This album features a mixture of mid-'90s Pop, Smooth R&B, and Techno. This is another great album.
SURVIVAL
A great song about Madonna trying to survive in career. Whether it's Heaven or Hell, she's gonna be living to tell.
SECRET
The album's first single. This song is absolutely incredible. That acoustic guitar fused with a techno and R&B sound is, to me, the perfect combo. This is just a great song all together.
I'D RATHER BE YOUR LOVER (Performed by Madonna & Me'Shell NdegéOcello)
An okay song.
DON'T STOP
Great song.
INSIDE OF ME
This song is actually about Madonna's mother. What a great song.
HUMAN NATURE
The album's fourth & final single. Another awesome song. This was Madonna's response to the critics' hateful opinions of her during her sexual stints of 1992-1993. Love this song.
FORBIDDEN LOVE
A great song here. A really, really great song.
LOVE TRIED TO WELCOME ME
This another one of the prettiest ballads Madonna has ever recorded. One of my favorite Madonna songs.
SANCTUARY
Another great song.
BEDTIME STORY
The album's third single. This is a great song, and it is another one of my favorites. The music video is a "Bedtime Story" destined to give children nightmares for it's freakish and creepy atmosphere.
TAKE A BOW
The album's second single. Madonna had a really huge hit with this song. Almost everyone, if not everyone, took this song to their hearts. Even her most hateful critics took this song to their hearts. This is another one of Madonna's most beautiful and heartfelt ballads.
What an amazing album BEDTIME STORIES is. The album, in my opinion, and probably the opinions of other Madonna fans, is one of Madonna's most underrated and underappreciated albums. This album is a real treat for any and all Madonna fans.
Surprise Surprise I actually like this one
2009-08-29 - I almost gave up on this one because of the songs:"Secret", and "Take A Bow" these don't belong on here at least as far as I'm concerned. "Take A Bow" is one I would probably dance to if I was a zombie, and "Secret" is a rather moody little piece. However, it starts out strong with "Survival", and there were a couple of others noteworthy such as: "Love Tried To Welcome Me", and "Human Nature". She followed this up after "Erotica", and she really branced out with R&B, and Smooth Jazz sounds on this one. No brainless pop music, or controversial songs here. Just a honest to goodness pop album.
Dance Floor Junkie said it all, Bedtimes Stories is a Madonna Gem - Lenin
2009-03-25 - When reading Dance Floor Junkies Review it was like I wrote it, so spot on. I was 16 when Bedtimes Stories was released, just finished High School, I loved Madonna then even though everyone at the time hated her for the whole Erotica/Sex fiasco. I was young and also was abit taken aback nevertheless I loved Erotica, Madonna had already won me over. When she released Bedtime Stories, I was amazed, I loved that album, so underated it was even though it did have a few big chart hits, its a R&B Madonna with feeling, not even Hard Candy (which I love too) has that groove, I listen to this album even today, I am now 30. The songs that stood out for me are: 1. Survival (great harmonic vocals simple and pure, great beat) 2. Secret (groovy baseline one of Madonnas best R&B tracks to date, check out the remixes they are crazy) 3. Don't Stop (great beat, simple, catchy, groovy love it) 4. Inside of me - my favourite track even my dad loves it, reminds me of Janets "thats the way love goes" 5. Love tried to welcome me - a beautiful, clean cut ballad, with emotion never seen by the Pop Diva. 6. Sanctuary - mysterious, dark, hypnotic you will get lost in this amazing track. 7. Bedtimes Stories - a stand alone masterpiece, I remember when I listened to the album in the record store to consider buying it, I heard this song, so different, so layered in mystery, beats I never heard, Madonnas sexy vocals, I love this track my best techno - feel Madonna track ever, loved the video too why this song did not chart at No.1 or at least the top 5 on the billboard charts I do not know and last but definetely not least 8. Take a Bow - this track along with Live to tell (True Blue) are my all time favourite Madonna ballads, her biggest American hit ever a wonderful collaboration with Babyface.
I love Madonna so amazed that I have been listening to her since I was 5 (Madonna 1983 great album) live in South Africa and have saved up to go to London to watch her Sticky and Sweet Tour, never ever seen her live, only on DVD I will starve for a few months after that experience but hey Madonna you are worth it. Get Bedtimes Story in your collection its a great album.

Bit of a Surprise
2009-02-14 - I'm in college. While, I know alot of Madonna's stuff, she has had so many hits that I obviously don't know them all. This her stuff that I never knew about, and alot of people have forgotten about. My napster account recommended that if I liked Ray of Light,I would like this album. I listened to alot of the tracks, and I was really surprised that she had some gangsta rap(well madonna style) on this album. I was like wow! Very creative. Take a Bow, is great because it's a well known song and the video has madonna looking her best.(In my opinion she hasn't really been this hot since that video). Bedtimes story, is kind of eh? I'm not a huge Bjork fan. So i thought it was too experimental, but way ahead of its time in terms of grapics. Human Nature is constant rotation on MTV, when I was younger. But never fully listened to it. Very creative, ahead of its time, and great hip hop beats. Secret is a great uptempo track. It's very good, this really reminds me of Janet's That the way love goes. So if you like that classic song, you'll love this. Overall, this is one of ehr best albums besides ray of light and true blue. If you like R & B/ Pop then you will be pleasntly surprised on hoe good it is.
One of the great underrated Madonna albums...
2009-01-26 - Actually both "Bedtime Stories" and "Erotica" are among the great Madonna albums...greatly underrated during their time. I think she was a bit ahead of the rest of us, which isn't surprising!
I truly love the song "Inside Of Me". It's a beautiful lyric and a great slow jam to it. I guess supposedly it's about her mother, but it could be about any lost love I think.
