Editorial Review:
Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey has set April 15th as the in-store date for the most eagerly anticipated album of the year, E=MC². The 11th studio album of her career, E=MC² is the follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah's worldwide 10 million selling #1 album, which generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), 2 #1 singles and countless more industry honors during its 18-month stay on the charts. The first single from E=MC² is "Touch My Body," written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. "Tricky" Stewart, and The-Dream, and blasting out worldwide on February 12th. The video for "Touch My Body" was directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner - Internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead. In addition to C. "Tricky" Stewart and The-Dream, other guest producers joining Mariah on E=MC² will include Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser.. E=MC² is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio "LA" Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.
The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar - Soundscan's biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (winner of the Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song Grammys) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.
E=MC2 Reviews:
Album is terrible
2009-12-05 - What a terrible album and I like Mariah Carey. She's very talented, but this album is garbage. I just don't understand how anyone can enjoy this. Did it have one good song on it? Really, did it? Are you sure?
Great Album
2009-11-02 - Mariah pleases us with an amazing mixture of sweet vocals and heavy beats. Mariah starts this album taking us to the club with the sexy and funny "Touch my Body" and "Migrate" and finishes taking us to heaven with the golpel song" I wish you well" in which Mariah show us why she's one of the best singer of all time. "Thanks for Nothing" is one of the best vocal moments while "Side effects" show us a Mariah angry side we don't get too see very often. All the songs are very radio-like like they all should have been a singles. I also highlight "I stay in love" with the sweet and cathy chorus and "For the record" for its amazing lyrics and old school vocals. It's a great album! everybody must have it!
Disappointing followup to one of her best albums.
2009-10-07 - When Mariah Carey released Emancipation of Mimi in 2005, it became a huge hit, and gave her the success she had struggled to obtain for the last few years. So when she released E=MC^2, expectations were high. Sadly, I don't think she lived up to them.
A lot of the songs are very good, such as "Migrate," "Touch My Body," "I'm That Chick," and my favorite song on here, "I'll Be Loving You Long Time." But while Emancipation set a trend, E=MC^2 seemed to be a sheep following the trend. It almost sounds as if she rerecorded songs that were originally intended for the former, and then put on here. But the only thing that makes the tracks not sound like they were taken from a vault was the fact that her voice is inferior this time around.
Overall, I think this album satisfied in the short term, but didn't deliver in the long run. It's like hoping for a prime rib dinner, and getting McDonald's. It'll do, but it doesn't satisfy as well. All Mariah fans will want this, but they're also the only ones who will.
Mariah E=MC2
2009-09-11 - I have no complaints about the item or the speed of delivery at this time.
Mariah Carey E=MC2
2009-08-23 - I'm a big Mariah Carey fan and although I enjoyed this CD, its not her greatest. Some of the best songs on this CD include "Touch My Body", "Side Effects", and "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time". If you are a MC fan then I would recommend this CD.
