Editorial Review:
This limited edition deluxe version of E=MC2 contains the same CD as the regular version and also comes with special packaging, a foldout poster and a custom iPod skin.
Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey has set April 15th as the in-store date for the most eagerly anticipated album of the year, E=MC². The 11th studio album of her career, E=MC² is the follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah's worldwide 10 million selling #1 album, which generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), 2 #1 singles and countless more industry honors during its 18-month stay on the charts. The first single from E=MC² is "Touch My Body," written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. "Tricky" Stewart, and The-Dream, and blasting out worldwide on February 12th. The video for "Touch My Body" was directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner - Internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead. In addition to C. "Tricky" Stewart and The-Dream, other guest producers joining Mariah on E=MC² will include Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser.. E=MC² is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio "LA" Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.
The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar - Soundscan's biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (winner of the Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song Grammys) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.
E=MC2 Reviews:
Disappointing but with a few great tracks

Mimi tries to follow up a great album like Emancipation. Let's see how this one faired:

Standouts:
THANX 4 NOTHIN' - (My favorite track. Has attitude and a nice beat)
I STAY IN LOVE - (A nice ballad that can be put on repeat)
SIDE EFFECTS - (A mid-tempo about the demonic relationship Mariah endured with her ex-hubby and head of Sony, Tommy Mattola. Has good insight and features Young Jeezy)
BYE BYE - (Mainly another fair well to her father, but also makes room for others to say goodbye to a dead loved one)
Solid tracks:
I WISH YOU WELL - (Somewhat of a gospel kiss-off to someone that has hurt her. Lists a couple of verses from the Bible >_>)
MIGRATE - (Features the annoying T-Pain who somehow fits here.)
TOUCH MY BODY - (Catchy, mentions Youtube and nosy "Wendy interviews")
CRUISE CONTROL - (I used to love it, now I just like it. Features Damien Marley)
I'M THAT CHICK - (Has a great vibe.)
FOR THE RECORD - (Recalls and namechecks some of her songs of yesteryears in a cool, creative way.)
I'LL BE LOVIN' U LONG TIME - (Solid track. I was addicted to this track for a little bit. It was and still is infectious and so upbeat. Not a classic, but good compared to what's being played on the radio these days.)
Could be better:
O.O.C. - (This is one of the two least tolerable tracks on the record. Something about it gets me almost every time. It's partly the "click-clangy" beat. The flute is cool though.)
LOVE STORY - (Same as O.O.C. but this one has a reason to be here - Mariah sounds nearly dead and quite uninspired in the chorus)
Import Tracks:
4REAL4REAL - (Cute lyrics, alright song. Would fit in the "Solid tracks" section.)
HEAT - (Coolass drums, but overall, underwhelming. Belongs in the "Could be better" section.)
4 stars.

For The Record, this album is worth the purchase!
2008-11-21 - After a few dissapointing albums, Mariah returned with this wonderful album! There are so many good songs on it. While not every song is classic, there are still a few underrated gems to listen to. The leading single "Touch My Body" is a direction that we aren't used to hearing from Mariah. I bought this album twice because it was so good! The second single "Bye Bye" reminds the listener of her earlier hit like "One Sweet Day." One of my favorite songs was "I'll Be Lovin U Long Time" which ended up being a single! Another favorite is "For The Record" and "Last Kiss." This album is full of great vocals and hot beats. This is definately THE album of 2008 allong with Britney Spears's "Circus." This is some of Mariah's best material in years. I hope it sells well because I'd hate to let this great album go un-noticed!
Sing to me mariah
2008-06-14 - Love this cd. I can see why she's #1. Keep on going Mariah!
One of Mariah's best albums ever!
2008-06-11 - This may not be her best album vocally, and I assure you it is not, but as of soul, it's a terrific effort. The pop tracks have lyrics of a great depth, and they hardly ever bore you. My favorite track is Side Effects, a true invitation for women to cry out loud, and I'm sure they will, because like most of the successful tracks here, it invites you to feel something, to experience the vocals and the up/mid/slow tempo beat, and you do without a second thought. I recommend E=MC²! It's gripping.
