Editorial Review:
Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is packaged in a beautiful 3-panel softpack. A must-have for all Mariah fans, it will include: - The CD - A 2nd Enhanced CD featuring the "Obsessed" video, a remix video, and 3 remixes

- a 36 page Elle mini-magazine that's an inside look at Mariah.

First came the emancipation, then came energy and power, and now come Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, the new album by international superstar Mariah Carey, scheduled to arrive on September 29th. The first new single pick from Memoirs is "Obsessed,". The video for "Obsessed" is directed by Brett Ratner. "Obsessed" was written and produced by Mariah, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, who are responsible for the majority of tracks on the new album. Memoirs was executive-produced by Antonio "L.A." Reid. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, the 12th studio album of Mariah's career, is the eagerly anticipated follow-up to her RIAA platinum-selling album E=MC² (released April 15, 2008), and her worldwide 10 million selling The Emancipation Of Mimi (released April 12, 2005). Both were Soundscan #1 debut albums that made chart history for Mariah in the U.S. and numerous territories around the globe.

The Emancipation Of Mimi generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), two #1 singles, and countless more honors during its 18-month chart stay. The album debuted at #1 on first week sales of 404,000 copies, Mariah's highest first week sales total (until E=MC²;). Soundscan's biggest-selling album of 2005, Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (Grammy winner for Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's.

Three years later, E=MC²; debuted at #1 on first week sales of 463,000 copies, which now stands as the highest first week sales total of Mariah's career. The album's success brought total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, distancing her even further from the pack as the top-selling female recording artist in history.

E=MC² spun off four singles: "Touch My Body," "Bye Bye," "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time," and "I Stay In Love." Of these, "Touch My Body" made history when it became Mariah's 18th #1 Hot 100 hit, thus surpassing Elvis Presley. "Touch My Body"'s two weeks at the top also marked Mariah's 78th and 79th cumulative career weeks at #1, which tied Elvis' long-standing all-time high of 79 weeks at #1, as calculated in Billboard.com. At the same time, Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 50 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.

Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel Reviews:
GREAT ALBUM BUT LACKED DIRECTION WITH SINGLE CHOICES! 5 Star Review
2009-12-27 - This cd is one that I can honestly say is truely underrated, the only reason why it did so poorly on the charts is because she didnt time her singles right. I feel the strongest songs on this cd are Candy Bling, H.A.T.E.U, Ribbon, Obssessed, Betcha gon Know, Angels Cry, and Inseperable. If I was forced to take any songs out I wouldve left Standing O out because I dont care for the beat too much and its a lil annoying, and Up Out My Face (The Reprise) because it was oddly placed into the cd and its so stupid.

Imperfect Timing, Almost Perfect Album 4 Star Review
2009-12-24 - Indeed, Mariah's 2009 offering had one thing wrong - the timing. Coming less than 18 months after E=MC2, which was considered rather similar to the 2005's acclaimed comeback "The Emancipation of Mimi", even myself was not decided to give it a try. Apparently, I was not alone. Even with postponed release dates, "Memoirs" had a lesser commercial success than any of its two predecessors - and produced no No.1 single - something that the singer sometimes had too much emphasized in her career.

This all aside, I was more than happy when I got a chance to listen to the album - Mariah cast all pretense aside (the cover may be misleading, as there is no visible sign of breaking from the sexy uniformity of previous covers) and made a classic r&b album, helmed by just one major producer duo, The Dream and Tricky Stewart. After a few listens it is really clear: Those who assert that this is the best Mariah since "Butterfly" (1997) are right!

The singer-songwriter's knack for melodies is intact, as witnessed in the tracks like "H.A.T.E.U." or "Ribbon". The Dream and Tricky's contribution is clearly audible as well, particularly on tracks like "Standing O", which reminds of them-wheeled Rihanna's super smash "Umbrella". Less robotic than that 2007 hit, however, Carey's album overflows with warmth, soulful grooves and is free of melismatic singing that used to put off many casual listeners.

The lead single "Obsessed" is as catchy as the 2008 No.1 hit "Touch My Body". Similar melodic and lyric motives show up every now and then, giving the album a satisfying sense of fulfilment. Finishing with "I Want to Know What Love Is" (where the gospel choir is sounding strangely tame, as if going half-steam), the album is a testimony to Mariah's often-underrated artistry and although it is probably not good enough to win new fans, it's a cohesive bag which probably shows the singer in her real state, giving fans a chance to live things with her. Seems like marital bliss works well for Mariah...

One of Her Best Albums!!! 5 Star Review
2009-12-24 - I am a die hard Mariah fan, she is my idol, I've been listening to her since 1993. So I will be the first to say that I was disappointed in E=MC2, it was okay, nothing special. So I was a little nervous when I bought this album. In fact, this was the first album of hers that I didn't pick up the day that it came out. But from the minute that I put it in my CD player I have loved it. Some songs that I didn't like that much at first (Inseparable, Standing O) have grown on me. The reason why I love this album is because it's different from anything she's ever done. She continues to add layers to her already amazing career and I admire her for that. So many people always complain about her not being who she was when she first started. If she was she would be so boring! I like the fact that she takes risks. I like the fact that after almost 20 years she is still re-inventing herself and finding genres that fit her voice so perfectly!

This CD is a big story and I love it! At times she's angry and plotting revenge (Betcha Gon Know), other times she portrays a type of hurt that makes me so sad (H.A.T.E. U) and other times she's just flirty and fun (Candy Bling, Ribbon, More Than Just Friends). H.A.T.E. U could easily be my favorite song ever from her. There are a couple of songs on this album that make the top 10 for me. Give this album a chance, because it is easily one of her best. I can't wait to get off of work everyday so that I can listen to this album on my way home!

Love it 5 Star Review
2009-12-23 - this is 1 of my favorite CDs of '09. i love it from start to finish. my favorite song is the impossible and standing O

One of the most underrated amazing albums of 2009! 5 Star Review
2009-12-21 - This is the first Mimi album I have purchased since her classic "Butterfly" album in 1997. This is some of her best work! Each song tells a story and makes you sit and think. Like Girl I know what you talkin about! I cannot say I have 1 favorite song because the album in its entirety is amazing. It seems like to me she is really reflecting on her life. Like it's Butterfly updated for 2009. DO NOT listen to any of the critics harsh reviews. I have come to learn that Critics are the people killing album sales before fans can check GREAT music out for themselves. Her vocals really make you shiver especially on "Its A Wrap"! Here is a top 5 List of my ABSOLUTE favs!

1. Its A Wrap
2. H.A.T.E.U
3. Candy Bling
4. Betcha Gon' Know (The Prologue)
5. Standing O

Purchase the album and recommend to everyone! I wish Mimi all the luck on her upcoming tour!
