Good single
2007-05-19 - Alright, if you're looking at this, you're most likely already a mariah fan and have already heard this great song. So what do you get as a collector if you buy this?
1) Album Version. Exactly the same as it appears on the Butterfly album.
2) Radio Edit. This is actually a shorter version of the Mobb Deep mix, not the album version. It fades out at the end.
3) Mobb Deep Extended Version. If you have the My All/Breakdown maxi single, this is the same version of The Roof that appeared on that. It's basically a sightly longer Album Version with raps by Mobb Deep.
4) Full Crews' Club Mix. More urban mix featuring raps by Rimes 'Imperial' and Rickardo 'The Dreadlocked Lyricist'. It kinds of reminds me of the Underneath The Stars Drifting Re-Mix.
5) Full Crew Club Mix. The exact same music from track #4, except it uses the Mobb Deep rap instead of the new one.

the only down side is that none of the dance mixes are included here.

2007-01-21 - I bet there are times when all of us just sit back and think about our old infatuations or loves from back in the day. Thankfully Mariah was able to put those feelings down on paper and created one of her most underated songs to date. And adding to this gem of a song she used the track to Mobb Deep's "Shook Ones" to make a uptempo r&b love song. The music video for this song is so cool as well. The single I have has four remixes to the song. I love it.

The Roof Is on fire
2005-06-29 - "The Roof" is one of Mariah Carey's most underrated songs and it takes new flight on this extremly rare single. At the time of this review, there was only one listing for it, and if I didn't already have it I would snatch it up. The track listing is as follows:

1) Back In Time/The Roof Album Version
This track is the exact album version. No extras, no frills.

2) Back In Time/The Roof Radio Edit
Nothing special here, just a few things edited out.

3) Back In Time/The Roof Mobb Deep Extended Version
This track inlcudes some very cool rhymes from Mobb Deep that make the single worth buying.

4) Back In Time/The Roof Full Crews' Club Mix
A significantly longer version with some adlibs and extra vocals from Miss M.

5) Back In Time/The Roof Full Crew Club Mix
I'm not sure why this is almost the same title as the track above, but it has different raps and adlibs throughout.

The cover of this single is of Mariah's beautiful face looking to the side with her eyes focused on something passed the photographer. Her hair is straight and she looks just like she does in the video. I have every Mariah Carey single there is, so trust me on this. If you can get a hold of this one, buy it. the artwork alone is worth the price.
Also, a cool club mix of "The Roof" is available on the "My All/Stay Awile" single, which you can still buy from amazon.com sellers.

All in all, a good Mariah song and a straighforward single. "The Roof" is the only song here, but you get several versions, including various raps interjected.
