Mechanical Animal Reviews:
A Rock n Roll Classic
2004-05-03 - I cant believe some people hate this album... this is very good.. a classic by my taste. the music IS very bowie and the imagery has a kind of andy warholian-emptiness of hollywood in a glittery decadence with an almost Golden Age of Grotesque brash-case in point: i wanna disappear and i dont like the drugs. but my favorites here are the more depressing but haunting songs like The Speed of Pain (for a moment in the last part where he sings "hope that we die holding hands, for always" his voice almost sounded electronic like something lifted out of a kraftwerk album. that was delectably haunting. and the back up singers- delicious in its sarcastic irony), Fundamentally Loathsome- one of the best manson songs i have yet heard. the music is like a 50's lounge music and works wonders for the whole concept-atmosphere of the album. Last Day on Earth is also very very good. whenever i listen to it, it almost takes me back to the electronic 1998 digital age. But the very best song and my personal favorite in this CD is Coma White.just magnificent with those sulking guitar work at the end and the soft piano-like guitar opening. the lyrics themselves are above what and how even david bowie writes~ "There's somecold and blank/ behind her smile/ she's standing on an overpass/ in her Miracle Mile". how can you resist that? its a classic.
another one of my favorites is mechanical animals. the Arena-rock style guitar opening and the ending are just worthwhile for any music(not just manson) fan to drown their ears to. Great big white world is also a very good song but im dry out of praises. bottom line this is must have unless of course youre a right wing christian obsessed with demonizing the modern liberal humanity or a homophobe too tangled up with the cover art instead of the music or the concept behind both the music and the art. this might be something thats too hard to swallow for you
One Of His Best
2003-01-13 - DISCOGRAPHY
# 94'Portrait Of An American Family - His first and one of the best although it's old the songs aren't corny.
# 95'Smells Like Children - From what I have heard not good a handful of the songs are from other artists (Sweet Dreams...etc)
# 96'Anti-Christ Superstar - His hit album most songs are good
# 98'Mechanical Animals - Still going strong and only 2 or 3 songs are bad
# 00'Holy Wood - Alright good songs are good bad are very bad
--------------------------------------------------------------
01 Great Big White World - Alright droning but the tune stops u from skipping this one.
02 The Dope Show - His hit song of the album obviously very good
03 Mechanical Animals - I Love This Song!
04 Rock Is Dead - Alright not as good as (03)
05 Disaccoiative - Disappointingly Boring And Droning Feel
06 The Speed Of Pain - Bad I just skip this song
07 Posthuman - Very good head bangin screaming non boring/droning
08 I Want To Disappear - Good only though i wish it went longer
09 I Don't Like Drugs - Satisfactory has female singers at end
10 New Model No.15 - Good I like the chorous better than verses
11 User Friendly - Alright worth a few listens
12 Fundamentally Loathsome - Slow, boring, droning stick to hard fast songs Manson.
13 The Last Day On Earth - Not boring lyrics but my mind seems to block out the droning words and listen to the cool music.
14 Coma White - Very Very good song you can tell whoever made the song put time into it, its almost 6:00 mins. most singers burn out by the last song in their albums not Manson!
X-tra trax
2000-03-24 - The Extra tracks go as follows: 15. Dope Show 16. Sweet Dreams(are made of this) 17. Beautiful People
Love or Hate him, listen to the album.
1999-07-20 - Greetings and Salutations. This album I strongly believe is Manson's best yet. His musical talent grows stronger and better with each album release. This time around, the Rev offers us (the listener) a hand as he leads us through the horrors and joys of life in this strange reality. With tracks like GREAT BIG WHITE WORLD, THE SPEED OF PAIN, and LAST DAY ON EARTH he crys to us with compassion and pain. He invites us to lay with him and stare down from space onto the greyish world. On tracks like ROCK IS DEAD, POSTHUMAN, and I WANT TO DISAPPEAR he entertains us with angst filled lyrics screamed at maxium volume. This antichrist superstar appears to us now as a ghost-like being from another world who has come to save those who wish for salvation and escapism. I accepted his hand as did thousands of others. Come join us, won't you? Put the album on, close your eyes, and dream of the heaven that manson promises to our imagination.
