Songs My Mother Taught Me REVIEW
2009-07-05 - I think this is the best book on Brando I've read! I'm a big fan of his 50's career and along with Dalton's book - James Dean, The Mutant KIng, I think is great, Brando mentions people like Marylin Monroe, James Dean, Kazan, Strassberg and many others from that era. Informative reading for any one interested in Method acting!
Stars for a star
2009-05-19 - This product is a gift so I am not in a postition to review it except to say that it is in good condition.
Too Know Marlon Brando...
2009-04-14 - Marlon was an extraordinary person. His work with Native Americans or American Indians is nothing short of admirable. His willingless to speak out against the injustices done to so many Jewish people over the course of History is demonstrating an awesome awareness. His devolpment as a human being over the course of these pages is beautiful and therepeutic to behold.
His modesty is incredulous. Down playing his brilliance in perhaps the greatest movie of all-time On The Waterfront, he stated the role of Terry Malloy was "Actor Proof" and therefore there was no way the actor could mess it up. WoW! You know he won the Best Actor Oscar! Of course everyone knows that and could you have pictured anyone else playing Terry Malloy? I thought it was interesting as well he always thought he had been miscast as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire. For note, Marlon said some of his finest acting was done in Burn.
I really gained a lot from this book. I love it and plan to read again. It's a quite unique story of a quite special person.
Brando's no holds barred account of his life
2008-10-11 - If one wants to read trash about this great actor's life, then read the Manso book but if you want an honest account of his life, then read this book. Brando is brutally honest about his life almost to the subject of his shortcomings that one admires his tenacity for survival in the cruel world of Hollywood. Like he stated in the book, we are all "polka-dotted" in terms of our behavior and surely he was no exception. You'll come away still in awe of his artistry as an actor even though he admits it's just a craft and way to make a living.
