Description of Greatest Hits (Eco-Friendly Packaging):
In the abstract, there are two Martina McBrides heard in this ample collection, which features 14 hits from the Kansas-born singer's studio albums, along with four inspired new cuts. At one extreme there's the demure cover-girl-pretty warbler who serves up fervent and endearing love pledges like "Wild Angels," "Safe in the Arms of Love," and "I Love You." Then there's the mature, poised, socially conscious mother of two who grapples with darker topics like poverty and inequality ("Love's the Only House") and child and spousal abuse (the wrathful "Independence Day" and the ineffably sad "Concrete Angel"). There are certainly impressive samples of both Martinas on this anthology. On other cuts--like the bluesy, naughty new track "When God-Fearin' Women Get the Blues" and the angry "Life #9"--the forces of light and darkness, anger and felicity, commingle in a manner that's no less intriguing and provocative. --Bob Allen
Greatest Hits (Eco-Friendly Packaging) Reviews:
I love this album so much I'm going to wear our the CD!
2009-11-18 - My introduction to Martina McBride was, of all places, on the Sean Hannity radio program. He uses part of "Independence Day" as an intro for his program. I liked what I heard enough to go looking for the song and I liked it. I listened to samples of the tracks and I liked them as well.
I've always enjoyed listening to singers who can belt out a song, but can also dial it down when the song requires it. And Martina McBride can do that. I am more of an old-fashioned rock n roll fan and my primary taste in country music is the stuff that shows what it's borrowed from rock, as many of her songs do. And her selection is pretty good.
The album has some songs that were true gems - Blessed, Wrong Again, among others. I play this so often in my car, that I will wear it out one day. And I will gladly buy another copy.

No one like her voice!
2009-04-04 - There is no one in country music who has a voice like Martina McBride-can hold notes for unbelievable amounts of time, has a crystal pureness, the most powerful voice, yet can emit every emotion known. Worth the buy!!!! Also Shine, her newest album is a must buy!!!! Just listen to "Lies" and you will see why!
Awesome compilation!
2009-03-21 - I have had this cd for several weeks and I am really enjoying it. It has the songs I knew from the radio and some new ones too I hadn't been introduced to. Definitely recommend for people who are getting interested in her music.
whatta voice
2008-11-28 - Martina McBride has to be one of the most powerful voices in the music business. This woman can give me goose bumps because is so awesome! She is labeled as country but anybody that appreciates music and talent will see what I mean. She is right up there with Whitney Houston Celine Dion, Mirah Carey. I don't necessarily like all of their music but you'd have to be a fool not to get chills while listening! Listen to the words, they tell stories, real life, look beyond the music, just listen. Independence Day is one of these songs. If you are skeptical, this would be the album for you to buy. Trust me it's worth it you won't be dissapointed unless you can't appreciate true talent. I think she should sing the national anthem at the superbowl!!!
