Editorial Review:
In the over-the-top kids' party arena, it may not come as a huge surprise that the Olsen twins have managed to take the birthday cake. On You're Invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley's Birthday Party, the intrepid pair of partyers invites listeners along for a splashy poolside affair where chicken fights and Marco Polo highlight the activity list ("Pool Party"). Listeners also get a south-of-the-border-style soiree in which revelers will "have the whole enchilada / when the stick hits the pinata" ("Pinata Party"); an amusement-park romp for some "twistin', turnin', zoomin'" fun ("Screamin', Steamin', Slammin', Jammin', Really Scary Rides"); and a camping trip cool enough to command a four-song slice of this 12-cut outing ("The Bare Necessities," "Come On," "Critters on My Crackers," "Raptor"). Interspersed are an opportunity to free fall out of space on "Moon Bounce Madness" (a bonus for bolder birthday-bash attendees), and to flick the switch on the "Makeover Machine" (a good option for mellower guests). The excitement temporarily bottoms out on the "Lazy Rainy Afternoon" song, which is weirdly placed on this CD, but so what--the lovable look-alikes make for more than mediocre company even when they're not the life of the party. --Tammy La Gorce

OVERALL GRADE: A
well ah jumpt.
2002-08-23 - The Olsens have really matured since thir last outing junkyard, and are barely regonizable from prayers on fire, this LP having a more bluesy, restrained bent. Jennifer's veil has a smoky, southern gothic blues feel, with pretty jangling, swirling guitars and a head-mashing drum stomp, deep in the woods builds tension on a repeated drum-thump with some bass-heavy eerie straining, before building, running like a flailing dwarf through the woods, carrying a picnic basket for his beautiful grecian wife. Hearing mary-ann yelling "I CAN NOT RUN NO MOAH! NO AH CAN'T! NO!" in the death metal/burundi crunch of swampland is one of the most exhilarating moments in my house.
Pretty good 4 them!
2000-10-22 - This is a good mk and a cd! the last 6 songs (excluding the lat track) are not in the birthday party video. The songs I really liked on here. "Your Invited" "Screamin sleamin slamin jamin really scarry rides" some of the others are like little kiddish, but it is a pretty cool cd.
Very Good, Fun, Catchy Songs!
2000-03-08 - I pretty much listen to this CD a lot! These are fun, all ages songs that just keep you in a good mood. It touches down on all different styles of music. Those being rock, dance, blues and even a little salsa("Piniata Party"). There's even a little country on there somewhere. My favorite track on this one is "come On" Killer guitar solo! So if you are into Mary-Kate and Ashley, this CD is for you.
Olsen twins are the best!
