Description of Sky High (Widescreen Edition):
The idea of a high school for superheroes will appeal to teens and preteens, who struggle powerlessly with petty authoritarians, bullying peers, and their own rampant hormones, and Sky High spotlights young Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano, Lords of Dogtown), the son of top-of-the-heap superheroic couple the Commander (Kurt Russell, Tango & Cash) and Josie Jetstream (Kelly Preston, View from the Top). Unfortunately, though he's about to be dropped into the midst of kids who can stretch, turn to living stone, or shoot fire, Will has yet to develop any powers at all--and may never develop them. His development anxieties (and some entertaining metaphors for high school social hierarchies) contrast with a bubbling plot by an old foe of the Commander's to destroy Sky High and all of superhero-dom. Sky High has a great supporting cast (including Bruce Campbell, Army of Darkness; Dave Foley, NewsRadio; Lynda Carter, Wonder Woman; and Cloris Leachman, Young Frankenstein) and a handful of funny, offhand bits, but the bulk of the movie is bland and obvious. Younger kids may not mind the clumsy action scenes, generic dialogue, and tacky production design, but even comic-book-loving teenagers will label Sky High bargain-basement. --Bret Fetzer

Great time, even for non-family couples! 
2008-09-29 - I am a fan of profound films, you know "meaty" ones, with jarring plots, and humanistic stories. However, I have to say I had a blast watching this, at 32 years old. The PQ was great, and the story was engaging, as it reminded me of all of the challenges of HS. I love Superman and generally enjoy the "superhero" genre. This was a fun spin, with cool characters, and of course, many interlaced Disney messages, and I'd highly recommend this, for a fun night of Blu-ray fun!
good movie for the whole family 
2008-09-24 - very good from start to finish loved everybody in the movie and fire boy was reallly hot
Sky High
2008-08-05 - This is my 2 1/2 year old boy's favorite movie (and I don't find it really annoying either). It's pretty fun and Disney so there's nothing too scary or adult for him.
Great Fun for the Whole Family
2008-07-13 - Sky High is a movie about a high school for teens with super-powers. It has the usual teenage situations going on but with super hero and sidekick powers added. It's a great combination. Sky High is a great film that the whole family can sit down together and watch and everyone will really enjoy. It has good actors, good plot, action and lots of fun.
Our whole family really enjoyed the movie. I recommend watching for a light hearted family night of fun.
Good, clean, superhero fun with Teen fantasies too
2008-03-24 - A good, all-around family film. There is no swearing, nudity, making-out, gross body humor, or sexual innuendo - not even drunken idiot scenes!

The hero is late getting his superpowers, so has to deal with common teen fears of being inadequate as a person, failing his parents, embarrassment over his lack of "talent", and shyness with pretty girls. The issue of trust between child and parents comes up, as does loyalty among friends despite peer pressure.
After all, being a freshman is bad enough, but a child of famous superheroes hanging with Sidekicks, is just unheard of.
The evil genius turns out to be a girl ... a nice twist to the story.
The arch rival is Warren Peace, son of a hero and an arch-villain. You see the humor here. Actually he is a *very* attractive young man, who plays a complex character well. Check out his genuine smile on the extra features of the disc - he is definitely "top model" material.
The story has a good pace, interesting characters, and unlike made-for-adult superheroes like Ultraviolet, the Punisher, and Hellboy, these characters are not about revenge/pain/killing/seducing.
They are what traditional superheroes should be - giving us entertainment with a clear line between Good versus Evil. They show us the virtues we admire ... justice, honor, loyalty, courage, fair play, mercy, super strength, extreme intelligence, etc.
Safe for all ages. Maybe intense for kindergarten or younger. Warren Peace, Royal Pain, and the principal can be scary.
