Editorial Review:
"Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear make a terrific team" (Newsweek) in this delightfully demented comedy from the inseparable Farrelly Brothers (Shallow Hal, There’s Something About Mary). Conjoin the fun with Bob (Damon) and Walt (Kinnear) Tenor, two brothers who share a passion for life—and a liver. But their unique bond leads to wild complications when Walt decides to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor and persuades his reluctant sibling to go along for the ride! Loaded with over-the-top humor and outrageous antics, Stuck On You will leave you beside yourself with laughter!
Description of Stuck On You (Widescreen Edition):
Stuck on You finds those fun-loving Farrelly brothers in a feel-good mood, delivering a tame, kind-hearted comedy that even your grandma could enjoy. That's a big change from the seminal "hair gel" of There's Something About Mary, but the codirecting Farrellys have genuine affection for Bob and Walt (Matt Damon, Greg Kinnear), conjoined twins who are the owners and short-order cooks at a Martha's Vinyard burger joint. When amateur actor Walt decides he wants to make it in Hollywood--where he lucks into a star-making TV role with Cher (who gamely plays herself in this light Hollywood satire)--Bob has no choice but to go along. Separation surgery is risky, so most of Stuck on You milks mild laughs from the brothers' intimate connection, especially when Bob finds love with a pen-pal (Wen Yann Shih) who's initially unaware of Bob's brotherly predicament. Once again, the Farrellys score big points for their progressive acceptance of differences; several minor roles are played by physically or developmentally disabled actors, and it's a consistently commendable aspect of the Farrellys' comedic worldview. Other, more conventional rewards include Eva Mendes (and her ample cleavage) as a bubbly show-biz wannabe, Seymour Cassel as Walt's old-school agent, and Meryl Streep--yes, Meryl Streep--showing good sportsmanship in a glorified cameo. Stuck on You is dispensable comedy, but you can't knock it for good ol'-fashioned brotherly love. --Jeff Shannon
Stuck On You (Widescreen Edition) Reviews:
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. A classic!
2009-11-09 - I put this movie in the same class as Goodfellas, Now Voyager, Godfather II, Mildred Pierce, American Beauty and The Big Chill as a movie I feel the need to watch every few months. It never gets old. I love the relationship between the brothers. They believe in each other so much. They each think the other is really great. It's a very funny movie but very touching at the same time. There are lessons to be learned from this movie about believing in people, trusting them and looking at people without seeing just how they are different from everyone else.
And the cameos are hilarious.
Weird but funny, if you don't have a Carrot Top movie to watch...
2009-06-04 - Movie comedy with engaging cast (except Ms.
Facelift(s), Cher) about cojoined twins. Cute
lines in here like: "In case you hadn't noticed,
I'm aging faster than you, I only have 34% of
OUR liver. Don't miss the baseball pitching
or hockey goalie scenes. Not with the Stanley
Cup running now and another Wolrd Series in
Oct., as usual. Cher plays a stuck up b*tch -
just as we always knew she is in real life.
A new approach to comedy about a touchy subject.
Pick Up On It!
Funny as ever!!
2009-05-16 - This movie I saw on cable tv and ever since i ve seen it i wanted to own it without the commerical breaks so now that I own it i ve watched it numerous times and each time i watch it its funnier every single time!! If anyone likes this kind of funny I must say you have to get this movie because it will have you laughing right to the very end!!
Comedy Supreme
2009-04-09 - Get ready to split your sides laughing at the comical antics of twin brothers who not only share life but also share a kidney. Played by Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear the Farrelly brothers show just what a conjoined life is really like when Greg Kinnear decides to pursue his dream of becoming an actor and convinces his twin Matt Damon to go along with him. The situation unfolds in a most comical fashion which will tickle your funny bone until tears spring from your eyes. It is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face whenever you consider this film after viewing.
Warm, Wacky, Hilarious - Top Notch Comedy From Damon and Kinnear
2008-03-24 - Actually, I give this one 4.5. But I'm pushing it over anyway. I really liked this movie. Matt Damon played the understanding yet shyer brother just right, and Greg Kinnear was a riot! The last one I liked him in was Nurse Betty which was also hilarious. Lots of good laughs in Stuck On You - though I wasn't expecting much when I got it. The fact you can get it now for the price of the postage is beyond a great deal if you're into buying movies. Lots of warmth and humor in this flick, goofy as it may look.
