    Description of The Wedding Planner:
The good news is, yes, Jennifer Lopez can do comedy. In The Wedding Planner Lopez is Mary, a lovable woman who believes "those who can't do, teach. Those who can't wed, plan!" Her slapstick moments are lighthearted and she is spot-on as the controlling, compulsive-yet-sweet planner. The bad news is Lopez didn't get much of a vehicle in which to test drive her newfound comedic skills.

Mary's life is her career. Planning other people's weddings takes all of her time, leaving no room for a love life of her own. Her only personal life is a Scrabble club, to which she and her father (Alex Rocco, whose wandering Italian accent is painful to listen to) belong. When a handsome young doctor (Matthew McConaughey) saves her from a collision with a runaway dumpster (really, it works), she is instantly wooed by his quiet charm. Too bad he's the fiancé of Mary's biggest client, Fran (played winningly by Bridgette Wilson-Sampras), the job that will launch Mary as a partner in her firm.

The main problem with this film is that no one wants to hurt anyone else's feelings. Everyone is just so gosh-darn nice. In a subplot, Mary's father is trying to arrange her marriage to just the nicest Italian boy. Gee, he's sweet. Golly, Fran is nice. Is there ever a way out of this mess and to leave everyone smiling? Yet, there is a touch of old-fashioned romance to this wholesome film, which can only be described as "cute." And while things may unfold in a predictable manner, The Wedding Planner is still lighthearted fun of the sort that inspires dreamy romantic thoughts. --Jenny Brown

    The Wedding Planner Reviews:
Plan to skip this one... 1 Star Review
2009-12-15 - I love Jennifer Lopez. I don't particularly find her a drop-dead knock out like everyone else (she is attractive, but not my cup of tea), and I don't really think she is the greatest actress out there (I foresee NO Oscars in her future) BUT, and this is a HUGE but, she is so likeable and charming and just effortlessly captivating.

    I LOVE WATCHING HER!

That said, when I first saw `The Wedding Planner', her captivating presence blinded me to the films flaws. I really liked this, but truth be told, I like almost everything she does. I mean, what isn't to like about predictable romantic comedies so familiar you could quote them before you see them YET maintain such charming chemistry with the viewer that you walk away totally refreshed and completely entertained.

I mean, really...what ISN'T to like about that?

Still, after a few recent viewings it becomes clearer and clearer that, despite Lopez's charm, I really don't wish to watch this one again.

    `Maid in Manhattan'; yes please.

    `Monster-in-Law'; double check.

This predictable, preposterous mess; I don't think so.

One of the biggest issues I have with `The Wedding Planner' is that it is SOOOOOO stupid. It's one thing to present a premise that is predictable and `far fetched', but it is another thing entirely to insult the viewer by degrading your main characters, delivering people who appear to be just plain stupid. The whole idea of a groom-to-be having one last potential `outing' before he ties the knot is not far-fetched. Having that fling turn out to be your bride-to-be's hired wedding planner is stretching it a little, but believable. Having the bride totally oblivious to everything that is obvious and (get this) TRUSTING HER GROOM AND HER PLANNER TO MAKE ALL THE DECISIONS FOR THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF HER LIFE WITHOUT OUT is just going so far over the line that it is eye-rolling ridiculous. I mean, forget her naivety about her grooms wavering pants, there is no way I am going to believe that a woman that neurotic about her wedding being perfect is going to let two other people plan it for her while she goes away on business.

    Stupid.

Add to that the ridiculous Massimo sub-plot (which is drug out far too long and becomes such a stupid reminder of how clichéd and unintelligent rom-coms can be) and you have a film that lacks so much in brains it loses all charm. It's sad, because Lopez and even Matthew (I'll never really understand his appeal) both play off one another wonderfully here. They deserved a better script.

Alas, they were handed a lump of mud and couldn't do anything with it.

An Awesome Romantic Comedy!!! 5 Star Review
2009-10-02 - I thought this had a really good love story, and had hilarious moments! Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey were perfect together. Lopez stars as Mary Fiore who is a wedding planner that doesn't have a love life, until she is saved from an accident by Dr. Steve Edison. Mary begins to fall in love with him, until she realizes that he is engaged to her biggest client. I highly recommend THE WEDDING PLANNER!!!

Love the movie! Hate the seller!! DO NOT BUY FROM luvalfarm!!! 1 Star Review
2009-09-30 - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!!!! I purchased my DVD and didn't receive it until 1 month later!!! Then I contacted the seller and he claimed that he didn't receive my original order which I find very hard to believe. I got an e-mail confirmation for this order from Amazon. Amazon is on top of things! I trust them more than I trust this seller. He was just making excuses so that I could give good feedback. But guess what, I didn't!!!

Would love to see a sequel. 5 Star Review
2009-09-05 - A great movie. I applaud romance between two people with principles - honoring present commitment without the usual unnecessary sexual encounters - yet showing the physical attraction. (The scene with the statue is worth the price all by itself). Would love to see a part two with Jenifer and Matthew as a couple.

2009-05-19 - I had it on vhs so have upgraded to DVD. I believe this is a chick flick but I find it entertaining never the less. I am a guy who likes Lopez and if that isn't enough there is the blonde for the rest of you. Somewhat irregular story line, like getting his hand glued to the statue's genitals or the two guys riding the scooter through the bikers with the "just married sign" on the back was very humerous.
