Hidden Treasures Reviews:
Mandatory EP
2009-06-26 - I've been a huge Megadeth for some time now. And throughout time I've come to buy every single studio album, loving each one, some more then others, but all the time increasing my love for Megadeth. Soon I found myself seeking more Megadeth, and this EP was my answer!
I had already known the song Angry Again thanks to the Greatest Hits and also the movie Last Action Hero. I love this song, so I knew it was due time to get Hidden Treasures. Now that I own it, I'm glad to see that Angry Again isn't some rare good track, everything on here is great!
No More Mr. Nice Guy is great, it's an excellent cover, not much more can be said.
Breakpoint is fantastic, totally sounds like something off of Countdown To Extinction, and it's a bit of a faster track. Definately worth your time.
Go to Hell is definately my favorite track on here. Starts off with a cool little bass intro that reminds me of Poison was the Cure, followed by a great song, mandatory to listen to!
Angry Again is another major highlight, such a memorable intro and main riff. This is one of the songs that initially got me into Megadeth.
99 Ways to Die is just another great track. Could have easily been a classic had it been on a real album I think.
Paranoid is one of my favorite covers ever! The end of the song makes me laugh.
Diadems is a softer song, almost beautiful, yet it's still heavy. Love it!
Problems is the third and final cover, pretty good. I prefer the cover of Anarchy in the UK when it comes to their Sex Pistols covers, but this one is good and a great way to close a great EP!
If you love Megadeth by this now, if you don't, buy it anyways!
Nice collection of non-album tracks
2006-07-26 - The 1995 EP Hidden Treasures collects the various tracks that Megadeth contributed to soundtracks and tribute albums throughout the early 1990's. Here's what you get:
1. No More Mr. Nice Guy - This one is a cover of the Alice Cooper classic, and comes from the soundtrack to the movie Shocker.
2. Breakpoint - This is an original Megadeth track, and comes from the soundtrack to the movie Super Mario Brothers.
3. Go To Hell - Another original Megadeth track, this time from the Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey soundtrack.
4. Angry Again - Another original Megadeth song. This one is from the Last Action Hero soundtrack.
5. 99 Ways to Die - Yet another Megadeth original, this time from the Beavis & Butthead Experience CD.
6. Paranoid - An ultra-fast cover of the Black Sabbath classic, taken from the Sabbath tribute album Nativity in Black.
7. Diadems - Another original Megadeth song. This one comes from the soundtrack to the movie Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight.
8. Problems - A Sex Pistols cover that is exclusive to this EP.
This is a nice collection of material that saves Megadeth fans from tracking down half a dozen otherwise crappy albums (though to be fair, the Last Action Hero soundtrack was pretty good). I fully expected these songs to be included on the recent Megadeth remasters, but to my surprise they were not. Hidden Treasures remains the best way to get these songs. It's too bad the disc is out of print.
NOTE: There is a Japanese import version of Hidden Treasures that contains a few demos as bonus tracks. They're just demo versions of existing Megadeth tracks, so they may not be worth the Japanese disc's hefty price tag.

2004-07-04 - Im a huge Megadeth fan and Hidden Treasures is one of their best. It is very underated but has some of there best songs. If you liked Countdown youll like this album, Hidden Treasures is even better. Songs like Go To Hell, Angry Again, and 99 Ways To Die make this album a classic. Buy it NOW!!!
HURRY!!!
2004-04-19 - This is one of Megadeth's best creation!!! Filled with covers (with a Dave Mustaine touch), and some of the best creations from the best band. Get this one..it's a must have for any Megadeth fan. Why hurry? Because this cd is...eleminated from the capital record catalogue. (meaning if you don't have it..get it before they're all gone!!). You will be without a doubt pleased with this cd, it's worth every penny.
I give it a 5 stars for all you Droogies out there!
Cover tunes and soundtrack songs
2004-04-14 - Dave Mustaine and Co. did quite a few songs for movies (Angry Again - Last Action Hero, No More Mr. Nice Guy - Shocker), they also did songs for compilation albums (99 ways to die - Beavis and Butthead), and they also did cover songs for various projects (Paranoid by Black Sabbath and Problems by the Sex Pistols). Now all these loose ends have been neatly tied up into one convenient CD.
A good listen and a must for hardcore Deth fans. Dave isn't the best singer in the world, but his signiture growl fits well on many of these tunes. Rock on.
