United Abominations Reviews: Dave Mustaine keeps growling, promising new megadeth album 2007-01-30 - Having a chance to here two track from this new album due out next year, Gears of War" and "Washington is Next", Dave Mustaine and this version of megadeth continue the classic sound that the Rattleheads worship at the alter of the metal gods. Awaiting with baited breath for this album, and could be an instant top pick of the megadeth catalog. Updates to follow, but this ones a no brainer purchase in my book.
Very promising new album, looks to be an instant classic 2007-01-29 - I have heard three tracks from the fourth coming album "United Abominations" do out very soon in early 2007. "Gears of War", "Sleepwalker" and "Washington is Next", and both are very reminiscent of the Rust in Peace years of sound, so old time megadeth fans, and a new batch of rattleheads, get ready, brace yourselves, this is going to be an excellent album. Dave and his crew are staying true to what they know best, thrashing metal fun!!!
Update: This album is out now, and I was not wrong.
Megadeth is in full swing again. With the crispness of Rust in Piece, the Grittyness of Peace Sells, United Abominations rips through it's twelve tracks with no appologies. The Drover brothers and Lomenzo play together like they have been in this band like the past 20 years. This is a great introduction for new Megadeth fans to jump aboard, and a must have at all cost for all megadeth fans. Blistering tracks like Washington is Next and Play For Blood are classic thrash, Gears of War a great single, and the Title Track is full blown Peace sells, let the politicians know what dave thinks. A tout le monde is a nice re-do of an old classic, but a song like "Black Rain" could have been placed here, and this a bonus track. That is my only small quirp. Other tracks like Amerikhatan, very funny and dripping with sarcasm and scinicism, and Burn Ice another great song about the hazards of drugs. Sleepwalker was a great track to open with, nice guitar work. This album should easily be everyone's top metal pick of the year, baring a reunion of pantera with all of it's original members...(that's how good this is). Get This Album!!!
