2009-11-01 - If you do not know ANYthing about playing bass, this book is great. It teaches you how to hold it, the names of the strings, rhythm, reading music, and scales (mostly pentatonic minor and blues). And to do that, the book provides only "riffs" from Metallica (many of which consist of a single note). It's a great place to start, especially if you don't want to practice Hot Cross Buns a hundred times. However, if you have any understanding of the instrument to begin with, the book will be mostly useless... The play-along CD is pretty good.
Good learning material for beginners
