Editorial Review:
Convenient new size...Still f***ing huge! Metallica's Live Sh*t: Binge & Purge - the unprecendented box set featuring three complete concerts on three CD's and three VHS tapes, more than eight hours of live Metallica - is now being made available on three CD's and two DVD's at a special price. This colossal box has sold an incredible 613,000 copies since its 1993 release, and this reissue is sure to swell the ranks of those blown away by these shows. Nothing gets left behind -- the complete original 72-page full-color book is even included on DVD 2, and the commemorative backstage pass and scary guy stencil are enclosed as well. It's a one-two-three punch unmatched by any band, before or since, and the perfect gift for that special someone who needs their ass kicked hard by the world's greatest rock & roll band.
Description of Live Shit: Binge & Purge (3 CDs & 3 VHS Tapes):
This enormous live box set is a necessity for the hardcore Metallifan, though casual fans (if Metallica has any casual fans) might be scared off. It contains material up to and including the self-titled "black" album, including concert favorites "Creeping Death" and "Seek & Destroy," as well as classics like "For Whom the Bell Tolls," "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)," and "Fade to Black." There are also a couple of ripping-fast solos from Jason Newsted and Kirk Hammett, and covers of "Last Caress," "Am I Evil?" and "Stone Cold Crazy." The videos are from a 1992 San Diego concert and a 1989 stop on the Damaged Justice tour in Seattle; both are guaranteed to turn any fan who hasn't had the considerable pleasure of hearing this seminal metal band live green with envy. Pricey, but very highly recommended. --Genevieve Williams
Live Shit: Binge & Purge (3 CDs & 3 VHS Tapes) Reviews:
BINGE AND PURGE
2009-12-10 - This box-set is truly amazing! The thought of having 2 shows on DVD and another show on 3 CD's is good enough in itself, but having sat down and watched it all, it's breathtaking.Metallica during their strongest point in their history deliver on all fronts during their black album tour (DVD disc 1 and the CD's). The show is amazing .DVD disc 2 is back in the Justice tour and even this CD is fantastic even though it's before their fame hit the roof. Churning out numbers like 'Blackened' and 'Master of Puppets' in such a flawless performance .
[...] This was before they sold out.
2009-09-24 - Used to have this boxset, with the vhs tapes, $[...] back in the 90's. this was good, with vhs, cds' live music, way before they sold out. at the peak 93'.
KICK @$$!!!
2009-08-31 - If you like Metallica then this is for you! All live, all hard core, well done. Recording quality is great and Metallica delivers great performances on ALL FIVE DISCS!! I'm a serious Metallica fan and I've heard plenty of their live stuff. I like some performances better than others, but I must say that Binge & Purge is all solid performances. I can't believe I didn't check this out sooner.
metallica is back
2009-06-14 - first of all. metallica changed me and made me into the music loving person i am today and binge and purge helped. my cousin made me watch the vhs' many moons ago and i havent looked back since. all i must say is metallica is one of the greatest bands of all time and will be remembered for years and years after theyre gone. so dont look down on metallica for those few albums (u kno which ones i mean) and buy this. itll change ur life forever. and thank god for death magnetic. it wasnt metallicas fault that they sucked for those few years. bob rock did it. and hopefully by the grace of god he will never EVER produce a metallica album again. they should get flemming rasmussin ( i spelled it wrong) again. u remember him. master of puppets ...and justice for all? yea u kno
Best Online purchase I have ever made
2009-02-23 - This DVD set is hands down the best item I have ever purchased on amazon. I was going back and forth on whether I should buy this DVD/CD set for about a month and I finally purchased it and couldn't be happier. Some of the negative reviews stated that the sound quality was bad which is not true at all. The two dvds show metallica in there prime and they are of pretty good quality. I bought this set originally just for the dvds but have been pleasantly suprised with the three cds from Mexico City, the sound quality of the cds is very very good, not fuzzy one bit and very clear. If you are thinking about buying this product just do it you will not regret it, I watch different songs from the dvds every weekend and it is a product that just keeps giving. Again the quality of the dvds is fine, if it is a little quiet for ou then turn up your volume, I have a bose system and honestly I have not went past 60, the max is 100, so do not be turned away by any negative reviews regarding sound or picture quality.
