Metallica: Year and A Half Parts 1 & 2 Reviews:
A Year and a Half of More Hair
2009-02-23 - Since seeing Some Kind of Monster, I gained a new level of respect for a band that I've loved for 20 years. I did kind of lose interest there for a couple of albums (you know the ones) but ever since the release of Death Magnetic I've had a resurgence of love for Metallica and the time came for some nostalgia...so I got A Year and a Half. This is a great trip down memory lane and a great doco as well, with the recording of the Black Album covered in great detail as well as the subsequent tour. After Some Kind of Monster and the Live Binge set, this is the best Metallica DVD you can get, as it shows a band on the cusp of becoming one of the biggest bands in the world and covers an album process in detail. I wish they had done a doco for every album they have released. This is also hairy Metallica, Lars brushes his hair aside every five seconds and James looks much more like the angry young man we all know and love as much as the short haired older man we have come to respect and admire. Buy this DVD and then watch Some Kind of Monster.
One of the best music related documentries from any genre.
2009-02-12 - I am a huge music fan from Bach to Zappa and from Tom Waits to Slipknot. Music quality aside (even though it's amazing) the way this documentary was shot and edited together is simply great. From the personal aspect of how this band get's (got) along to the amazing concert footage in front of hundreds of thousands of people this video is simply enthralling. If you like Metallica or even rock music in general do you yourself a favor and purchase this video. It's time well wasted.
The Ultimate Music Rockumentary
2009-01-15 - This DVD is a classic, i must have watched these two parts over 30 times on the old 2 part VHS tapes i had but both tapes were kinda f*cked up so the picture would be terrible in parts, thank god for DVD, i picked this up as soon as it was transfered to DVD and immediatly thew out the tapes.
Anyway this is the altimate Rock DVD it shows how cool Metallica were at the time, they didnt need to do drugs or be wild, they just did their thing, its probably the reason they were so sucessfull they always kept it together when other bands fell apart around them
Metallica you are the best in my heart !
2007-10-26 - when i was senior high school,my school band always played Metallica songs. I truly admire Metallica, especially Kirk Hammet in his maestro killing thrash metal melody guitar. No one can compare with Kirk Hammet. I buy this DVD to remind me about old Metallica, Metallica who used to be a God of Metal, despite they seems downgrade now but i never forget how Metallica made all days so fun when in high school also in unversity.
This video show you how great their team to make an album. They are so solid and they truly professional in commercial band, and their songs, their clips so great. This product will bring you to the years when Metallica run faster to be a champion as a metal group.
metallica:year and half parts 1 & 2
2007-07-25 - I love this dvd because it shows you what it is like to be a heavy metal rock star from the recording an album to being on the road (the good and bad )and meeting and dealing with other band members bad behavior eg Axl rose. You come out of watching the dvd feeling like you have been to some amazing concerts and travelled the world with your best friends Jason, James, Lars and Kirk.
