Editorial Review:
Fuelled by sex, booze, drugs and hip hop, Bart, Ladj and Thai get kicked out of a Paris nightclub on Christmas Eve. The three friends meet up with two young ladies, Eve and Yasmine, who invite them to Eve's parents' countryside home. Later, a drunken dinner discussion of sex and evil leads to a recounting of a bawdy tale of a peasant possessed by Sheitan, Persian for Satan.
Sheitan Reviews:
Great Seller...really
2009-09-11 - Great seller, Shipped and arrived on time as described, doing business was a pleasure and I dont say this just because...I say it because you are a great person to buy from.
Derivative Nonsense
2009-08-13 - Mild Spoiler Alert.
I've learned that anytime Maxim magazine reviewer Pete Hammond or "Ain't It Cool News" gives anything a rave, you can bet it's gonna suck. That's the case here. There's nothing satisfying about this film; in fact, I was sorely disappointed that our hapless young'uns aren't slaughtered in outlandishly gruesome ways given that all three male protagonists are reprehensible twits. The only decent character, Yasmine, is last seen running after her friend's car--the driver doesn't bother to rescue his love interest and instead kicks another friend out of the vehicle and takes off to save his own cheatin' butt! (We're supposed to care about these characters?!) Illogical plot, howl-worthy dialogue, and a cross-dressing "wife" equal one-and-half hours of your life you'd be better off spending on...well...pretty much anything else.
A Very Special Delivery...
2009-06-27 - Three fun-loving, hyper-lebidonous friends and their latest gals get a bit too drunk and wind up at a huge manor in the french countryside. Though a bit odd, all seems well until a horrific secret is slowly revealed. Vincent Cassel (Birthday Girl, Eastern Promises) is Joseph, a handyman w/ a dirty mind, a continuous lear, and superhuman strength. He is a man who appears capable of doing anything at any moment. A nearby village is inhabited by a bizarre pack of teens. All of this would be rather quaint if not for the inbreeding and malevolent plot! SHEITAN takes us on a tour that we may not like being involved in. It's hard to feel sorry for the three young troublemakers, but they soon realize that they have met far more than their match tonight. A wondrously wicked chiller w/ enough humour, eeevil surprises, and lunacy to keep things interesting. Well worth multiple viewings...
French country-side religion, sex, delutions
2008-10-27 - This is a next movie of non-French French citizens, young people of Muslim background, local converts, among a range of other similar works present in English-speaking world with La Haine (Criterion Collection) and Baise-Moi surely.
Testosterone-fuelled drunk men kicked out from a night club had accepted invitation to celebrate Christmas in a company of just met chiks somewhere in a country-side where further actions occurred presented reminescently to Puppet Master Boxset/ Doll Master (Korea) themes just a mix of psycho-delusions proving one's religious clichés that neophytes are damned, out-wedlog sex is dangerous, Muslims are untrustworthy.
It is not worth A$12 ripped at the second hand DVD shop although Vincent Cassel is impressive and he is only one memorable actor and character this film memorised for if even someone admired incest, dirty sex mimicking and zoophilia with sadist horror at the top.
Another French Masterpiece of the Macabre.
2008-09-02 - Wow after 2 viewings,it's still hard to catch all the symbolism this movie brings to the table. And lets not forget the bravaura performance that Vincent Cassel brings to the table! The rest of the cast is excellant too but it is Cassel that turns it up to 11. Very scary, very funny, and above all, very very good. This makes my top 3 this year.
