  • Editorial Review:
An inspirational and refreshing romantic drama inspired by a true story. Beautifully told with stellar performances by Boris Kodjoe, Academy Award nominee Rudy Dee and special appearance by Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman against the backdrop of Hollywood and the Mississippi Delta; All About Us is an entertaining and heartfelt story that provides an insightful commentary on the familial rifts that ambition often creates.

    All About Us Reviews:
Could've Been So Good... But Wasn't. 2 Star Review
2009-12-14 - So this movie had so many things going for it, I tried so hard to like it. Good looking leads with good chemistry. Touching portrayal of creative Black people. (PLUS.) Realistic portrayal of family/domestic life (PLUS!). Even the classic, Rocky-style, striving-to-make-your-dreams-come-true-against-all-odds formula (being a creative type, that earns a DOUBLE PLUS!).

So why didn't I like it?

It was TOO SLOW... and TOO SERIOUS.

In a film this serious, a little levity, well executed, goes a LONG way. Unfortunately, this film was practically devoid of levity. There were plenty of opportunities for humorous or light interludes that could've brightened up the tone of the film, but most of those were unexplored, and the one place that could've been funny was the scene with the cousins, and even that gag took way too long.

Also, even though I thought much of the dialogue was spot-on in terms of capturing a realistic marriage dynamic, there were several instances of clunky exposition that violated one of the first rules of screenwriting, which is "show, don't tell."

Really about "US" 5 Star Review
2009-12-12 - This movie is done similarly to documentary but, quite different. It seems the normal but, it twist. It shows people that are willing to work and see the big picture. It a true story and not the movie you expect. I really like this movie its for the family and couples to share. It gives the chance for relating as people. Its a winner. It has cameo's by two legends african american community Rube Dee and Morgan Freeman. Their roles are small but their impact is Deep! :! If you get the chance, the movie lives up to its title in that its "All About US".

    boring... 2 Star Review
2009-12-02 - i'm not usually very picky with my movies... i'm pretty accepting of bad ones... which is why i tried to stay up to finish the movie... fell asleep about halfway through (fighting to stay awake). the next morning, finished it, the entire time waiting for some resolution... no climax... just dragged on and on... at the end, i wondered how this ever made it to film...??? sorry, but me no like. (but the actor is really nice to look at!)

All about us 1 Star Review
2009-10-19 - This movie was about another movie called "All About You". The story line was not good. I wasted my money. I would not recommend buying this movie.

    Love It! 5 Star Review
2009-04-26 - A great family movie about love and endurance. Shows that love can conquer all if you let it. The soundtracks were great.
