Description of Wanted (Limited Edition Collector's Gift Set):
As the impresario behind gravity-defying Russian blockbuster Night Watch, it's inevitable that Hollywood would come calling for Timur Bekmambetov. With a studio budget and an international cast, including two Oscar winners, Timur cooks up a Hong Kong-styled actioner bursting with fast cars and big guns. Our unlikely hero is mild-mannered Chicago accountant Wesley Gibson (Atonement's James McAvoy), whose father died when he was a tot. Wesley never learned to stand up for himself, and his girlfriend, boss, and best buddy all take advantage until the seductive Fox (Angelina Jolie) rescues him from a sharpshooter named Cross (The Pianist’s Thomas Kretschmann). After which, she whisks him away to a mansion on the edge of town to meet the other members of the Fraternity, where leader Sloan (Morgan Freeman) informs Wesley that Cross, a rogue agent, executed his father. Sloan believes Wesley has the goods to take him out, so he undergoes the Fraternity's brutal training regimen (Marc Warren and Common dish up some of the abuse). When he's ready, Sloan sends him out to fulfill his duty, but matters become complicated when Wesley finds out someone isn't telling the truth, leading our former milquetoast to exact an elaborate revenge. For those who've been following McAvoy's career to date, Wanted will surely come as a surprise. In adapting Mark Millar's comic series, Timur offers buckets of blood and a smidgen of depth, but fans of The Matrix and Mr. and Mrs. Smith will want to give this one a look. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Wanted (Limited Edition Collector's Gift Set) Reviews:
Needs a couple watched to be most enjoyed. 3 Star Review
2009-11-29 - I was pretty excited about Wanted and looked forward to seeing it but I have mixed feelings. The action is solid and the special affects are great but the plot just felt rushed. You could tell Wanted was based on a comic as just too much was squeezed in to the running time and I left the theater kinda scratching my head. Now that i have seen it again (on DVD) it makes more sense and is more enjoyable but still. Jolie did a great job (that creepy smirk almost never left her face). To be honest Freeman seems to be the same character in every movie he plays. And Mcavoy....maybe its because the first movie I saw him in was Chronicles of Narnia, but mcavoy just isn't that convincing as an over-the-top action star, and his foul mouth reminded me of Shia Lebeouf's charcter in IRobot. The story left many questions unanswered (who actually controlled the loom? was it magic?). Still the movie was entertaining eye-candy and was worth a see.

Check This Move Out!! 5 Star Review
2009-11-29 - I have to admit not being a fan of the Director, Tim Bekmambetov. Somewhat disappointed in his Russian Films Nightwatch and Daywatch. However, in his American directorial he delivers!! An abundance of profanities and over the top action sequences that are beyond extreme fill the screen in a dizzying array of visual adrenaline. Holding you in a tight breathtaking grip with its interesting visual techniques, humor and acting. James McAvoy (the sweet faun from the Chronicles of Narnia) plays the loser we all know, Wesley Gibbon. The guy, who just trudges through life allowing himself to be walked upon, humiliated and has no desire to escape it, except in a bottle of anti-anxiety meds. Enter a beautiful Woman, Fox (Angelina Jolie), a mysterious wise man Sloan (Morgan Freeman) and his life instantly changes from Billing Reports to Gratuitous Violence, Mastering Weaponry Skills, and Assassination. Believe me when I say what the Matrix introduced, Wanted has mastered. The director is a skilled artist at using the camera in conveying visual emotions of Wesley like I have never seen before, wait I take that back, seen it in Night Watch. I definitely recommend this deliberately humorous, action packed, violent, profane, to-the-extreme film to be seen on the big screen - check this one out!!

GOOD ESCAPISM ACTION FLICK!!!!!! 4 Star Review
2009-11-15 - This was a good action flick, to escape one out of dulls fill boredom. Special effects were awesome and people should be generous at giving no less then three stars just for the effort of some who created the special effects. Some people are so darn jealous, and nobody's that they just can't stand seeing somebody else doing what they wish they could do but never will. I hate people who give movies a one or two star rating. Some movies deserve a no star rating, but, these are low budget movies, nobody actors, total lousy acting, and the movie looks like it was made in my backyard. So the next person that gives this movie below a three star rating,I will be commenting DUDE ABOUT YOU!!!!!!!!!

ENORMOUS WASTE OF MONEY 1 Star Review
2009-11-14 - If brain-dead characters, awful narration, predictable plot points, and really, REALLY bad writing add up to your idea of a good film, then waste no time in renting "Wanted."

On the other hand, if you want to see an intelligent, well-made film that's based on a graphic novel, try "Watchmen," "Road to Perdition,"Sin City," or "Ghost World."

Jolie, Freeman, and McAvoy should have their acting licenses revoked for signing onto this repulsive dreck.

From Wanted to Being Energised 5 Star Review
2009-10-17 - EMPIRE made the comment, "Jolie has never been sexier". From the opening scene to the final, few minutes, WANTED is a white-knuckle ride with bending bullets, a car chase that 'll blow your mind, and one of the most spectacular train crash/fight scenes ever put on film. Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is a cube-dwelling hypochondriac, with a humiliating boss and a cheating girlfiend. His life is going nowhere! Wes discovers that his estranged father has been brutally murdered-and finds himself thrust into joining a secret society of assassins, called the Fraternity. During his training, at the hands of a skilled mentor called (Fox), this once office-bound wimp develops lightning-fast reflexes and superhuman dexterity. But, with his first assignment, Wes finds out that the only thing more difficult than ending the lives of others is summoning the courage to take control of his own.
