One of the Best Hip Hop Albums...Period 
2009-12-06 - Hip Hop really came into a wonderful stange in the late nineties thanks to rappers like The Roots and Mos Def. This disc adds to the lexicon as a foundation for the beauty, maturity, and consciousness of the genre.
The sound quality and production quality of the CD are just phenomenal. The musicians are playing real instruments, the scratching and mixing are classy, the mastering is balanced and not overly bassy or overly amped.
The message is really all about how to stay better in a world where things are falling about. This man talks about consciousness, hope, and sanity. On top of it the music is just plain excellent. In light of that the disc is a fun, light and engaging listen. This is a very strong album all the way through.

2008-12-23 - i suppose if you had listened to this without hearing black star first you'd think it was awesome! instead, this is a pretty lackluster album with some dope dope songs (hip hop, ms. fat booty) and a TON of garbage. the good tracks on here definitely make it worth owning, but you'd be better off getting the black star album or early talib kweli.
Pure Genius...instant hip hop classic
2008-08-23 - This album BLEW ME AWAY when I first heard it! I'll never forget my reaction(s) to each track. An album like this comes along once every 20 years. From beginning to end, we witness a hip hop master at work.
Mos Def is Mos Due for another spectacular album...possibly another album with Blackstar....because, well, Talib Kweli is outnumbering him in top tier hip hop albums to this point. That being said, no collection is complete unless Black on Both Sides is dusted monthly in your respective CD player.

2008-08-04 - I listen to this CD over and over and over again! Mos says so much and he is so creative! If you love Hip Hop, you'll love this CD....

2008-07-03 - Just buy hip hop and maybe booty lady or whatever is the name of that other song. It got old after on a few listens and the beats were so wack on some of the tracks I didn't even listen to all of it really.
