Moodring Reviews:
Moody & Fun! 5 Star Review
2009-09-27 - From start to finish Mya creates a masterpiece of an album displaying "strong" character in her lyrics, "on your face" attitudes on some tracks, and fabulous dance, Middle-Eastern hints, hip-hop and R&B styles and much more! The listening experience is anything but ordinary! Diversity is rampant as there are an array of topics that range from feeling good in love, not taking anybody messing with your lover, getting the gossip talk off by being confident to feeling in control, and hot and sexy! Mya encompasses it all from her different musical styles to her delivery in the singing.

My favorite songs are numerous but to name a few, I'd say the following ones: "Things Come & Go" with Sean Paul for the catchy Caribbean type sounds and meaning of the song how things come and go, "Whatever Bi*ch" for the aggressive attitude and similarities to songs like "You Better Work" by RuPaul and "If Madonna Calls", "Hurry Up" for the featured rap artist and great hip-hop vibe, "Step" for warding off any predator going after her lover, "Why You Gotta Look So Good?" for the romantic addictions that can make someone have a hard time of letting go a lover but necessary, "Taste This" for the fact it reverses the roles of a lover doing wrong [some lyrics: "How would you feel... if every time you wanna talk I turn the T.V. on?... Just one sip you'll probably choke on your own medicine...", "Little Too Much, Little Too Late" making a past lover know that seconds are not an option, "After the Rain" because things get better after the hard times, "Moodring" showing how feelings change with time, and "Extacy" for the Middle Eastern accents that flourish along spicy romantic words that are sheer fantasy!

Aside, those songs there are the bonus tracks making it a 20 track Japanese album. The lyrics for 19 of the 20 songs are included. The extra songs are: "Moodring" displaying how moods change, "Extacy" has the intimate fantasy references with Middle Eastern flairs, "Little Too Much, Little Too Late" making the message of the other lover wanting her back a little too late and saying forget that, and "Real Compared To What" which is fabulous -the little gift in the album. It's Mya singing with a sexy guy who raps quite eloquently and thuggishly. The meaning of the song is about being real to yourself. Money doesn't make the person, "Is that really you?", Kharma is real, material things aren't it. Your actions and soul should take the spot. Fake smiles, people in disguise, materialism flourishing, a boy loosing sight when he gets rich are highlighted. The concept of being yourself, freeing yourself and opening your mind to the realities of mankind in the "rich" soul are the answer! The realities are that people are abusing life with the things of the world. Mya sounds very soulful and rich in sound. It's definitely another sound as compared to her usual vocals -loved it!

The melody is at times smooth R&B, Mid-Eastern flairs, funky fast bouncy hip-hop styles, other times dance club-like jams, and then there's the chillin' type to light the candles and unwind alone or with another. This was one of the best buys I've done in a while. The title "Moodring" suits the overall feel because Mya displays diverse moods throughout.

Mya Is GROWN NOW! 5 Star Review
2004-12-29 - I was real pissed that Mya released the songs that wouldn't get her attention paid. This album is excellent.

01. My Love Is Like Whoa (10/10) - The first single Of The C.d. It's letting folk know she's grown now.

02. Fallen (10/10) - This is the ultimate fallen in love song. Being so deep in love, you're drowning. I love this song.

03. Why You Gotta Look So Good (8/10) - Lloyd Banks and Mya: A hit! It's about how this guy she's with is a low-life but he looks so ggod, she can't leave.

04. Step (10/10) - This should've been the 2nd single off the album. Missy Elliott did this song. Telling that wanch that messes with yo' man to step or else there will be some action.

05. Sophisticated Lady (9/10) - One of my favorites. She really makes herself blunt in this song about what she will and won't do. She takes control of whoever she's with.

06. No Sleep (9/10) - This song is up-tempo, it could've been slow, but I still love it. It's that chillin' with your piece song.

07. Anatomy one on one (10/10) - Mya's vocals has gotten better. I was immpressed with this song. I love it and she is serious about getting with this guy and making a kid.

08. Hurry Up (9/10) - Another track that Mya could've kept to herself, but I still love it.

09. Thing Come & Go (10/10) - This is my fun song. Sean Paul is on this record also. It has that reggae vibe to it. Pretty much telling her man she's sorry for doing him wrong and she's grateful he's still with her.

10. You (10/10) - Mya is in love, that's all that has to be said.

11. After The Rain (8/10) - I feel the emotion in this song when MYa sings. About someone she lost but will see again soon. This song will have you in tears if oyu can relate.

12. Late (10/10) - A strange melody track about her period being late ever since she had sex with this guy. I love it.

13. Whatever B!tch (10/10) - The house music song. A perfect song to vogue to. I don't know how to vogue yet, but watching it be done is good enough. About that one ho that hates on you at the club, so you brush it off, and that's what Mya did: Whatever B!tch.

14. Taste This (9/10) - An eerie piano and thunder crashing gets you ready for Mya's revenge song. Her man is acting strange and being inconsiderate, so she gives him a taste of his own medicine.

15. Take A Picture (10/10) - The song that makes you reflect on your past. She wants to take a picture so she can remember the moment forever. It's touching.

16. Free Fallin' (9/10) - She redid this song, but I don't know who originally sang it. Another keeper.

17. Moodring (10/10) Maaaaaan, Mya was pissed off in this song. About her best friend going behind her back and sleeping with her man. I like this track.

18. Extasy (9/10) - One track I didn't like in the beginning,but it's a catcher. I forgot what I meant. LOL

19. Little Too Much, Little Too Late (10/10) - This songs' meaning breaks my heart. Mostly because of the piano medley. About it's too late too late to get back with her because he left her when she needed him.

20. Compared To What (9/10) - From the coca-cola commercial. Also Common is featured. A good song to end the album with.

MYA DID A GREAT JOB WITH THIS ALBUM. I JUST WISH SHE PROMOTED IT BETTER. I STILL LOVE YOU MYA!
