Editorial Review:
"Karma" should be a four-letter word. Just ask Earl, the lovable loser with a hilarious laundry list of dirty deeds that need undoing, from stealing a children's bookmobile to getting his babysitter pregnant—the hard way! And, while Earl’s brother Randy starts a karmic list of his own, his ex-wife, Joy, and her husband are movin' on up to the suburbs. Trouble is, you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer park out of the girl. Hilariously irreverent and outrageously over-the-top, Season Four of My Name is Earl proves, once again, that karma is a funny thing.

My Name Is Earl: Season Four Reviews:
They paid the price for Season Three... NBC is cruel!
2009-11-11 - Season Four is a great return to form.
What mesmerizes me is, even today, we can have a TV show without ending! Can can this be possible? If NBC did not want another season, they should warn the producers BEFORE they shot Season Four! This kind of attitude help us to never forget the obvious: the ratings are Gods. TV executives simply don't care about the quality or boldness of a show (in that sense, it was real miracle that Seinfeld survived its first season - not because it was bad, but because the ratings were very weak).
We followed Earl for four seasons. We wanted to see the final destinies of the list, of Crabman, of Joy, Randy and all the fascinating recurring characters. But no, that was not to be. NBC killed it, and killed it without mercy.
But why was that? I think that's because rating fell during Season Three, which was by far the worst, to the point that, in some episodes, I was wishing then to END, instead of whising they did not end, if you kown what I mean. But it was not crap by any standards, it was still above-average TV.
Well, Jason Lee and Greg Garcia did their best. And it's best to finish the whole damn thing than to work with ridiculous small budgets.
Earl is Earl
2009-10-16 - Half the episodes were the funniest of the entire series, yet many others were absolutely unfunny. I love a good comedy, and the gross humor and the dumb humor were at times incredibly hilarious. This may not be a must buy, but it is worth the cost especially since Earl is now off the air. The last episode did help bring closure to some important issues.
Oh Snap! Earl's been cancelled
2009-09-20 - Season four was a great return to form after a disappointing Season three. Anyone who enjoyed seasons one and two will like season four.
In season three "The Hickeys", whatever satire it was supposed to be, bored me - a lazy comic device for some slapstick and cast members being self indulgent. A note also to casting - put Paris Hilton in anything and it will be crap. I did love "Our Other Cops is On" though and it was great to see Joy getting blackmailed and giving birth. Jon Heder is terrific too. For fans it is still worth buying but overall it just isn't as consistently good as the other seasons.
For me, season four recaptured much of the pleasure and fun I found in the first two seasons. I am glad I stayed loyal. Sadly NBC did not and season four is our last visit to Camden County. Here in Australia the show has also not received much commitment from Channel 7, the local broadcaster. It took a long time to get to air after the initial US broadcast and as of mid September 09 there still remains a number of unscreened episodes. Still you can find all sorts of things out there in the Wide Wide World of Web, can't you Joy, when tv execs give your favourite show a berry twister.
Anyways 5 stars from me and a recommendation to buy. I sure will be looking out for future Greg Garcia projects. (After Earl I have gone back and checked out Jason Lee's previous film work - nearly all misfires except for the wonderful little independent film "Chasing Amy"made in the late 90's. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out too)
My Name is Earl
2009-09-15 - I think it is a disgrace that NBC cancelled this show when it would have lasted several more seasons. From the start it got great ratings as well as how many Emmy nominations. And to leave it just hanging without closure, what are you people thinking? You have the idea that people from SNL will save Thursday night viewing you must all be on drugs. Have you considered that us loyal fans who purchase the DVD's have probably made you enough money to pay for another season or 2. I was sickened when I saw your lineup, 30 Rock and the office are pretty stupid but bearable. You couldn't even find a decent follow up to Earl, You had the disaster "Kath and Kim" then another "Parks and Recreation". And to replace EARL with SNL weekend update, shame on you. What happened to the type of shows the audience cared about and made NBC #1 for years on Thursdays? From the start Stars looked forward to doing episodes of earl up until the end of season 4. I thought the episode with Betty White had me laughing all through it and is a classic. It's a shame that last year they didn't fire the NBC programmer and President like they do all the time so you are all living on borrowed time. Without viewers you have no ratings then no jobs. You need to bring back Earl or you're gonna lose your Thursday viewers, so Please bring it back for it's loyal viewers. We would watch Earl then put up with the other crap that followed, it was your hook. If you put Weekend Update on to start the night then have Jay Leno on prime time 5 days is suicide. If I wanted to watch Jay I would have watched at 11:35. Also have you considered your viewers with DVR's, Earl was recorded by many fans because it was so funny and went on so fast we had to watch it over and over. Take this into consideration and start production right away so you can put it back on when Weekend Update fails within a month and bring back your dramas and get rid of Jay Leno. Remember Johnny Carson knew when to retire and passed his crown down to Jay.
Season 4
2009-07-23 - With movies and most tv shows "sucking" (I saw Transformers, the effects was the only good thing, and shows like Heros or Lost confused me) Earl was the one of the shows I watched. I knew after the prison episodes, it was a matter of time for the show to leave the air but I was hoping to have at least one more year. But NBC had to cancel it along with my other favorite, Medium. They even stopped summer reruns! It seems like Earl went the way of Fox's show Titus, which I was happy to buy on dvd. I'm surprised another favorite of mine (House MD) hasn't been cancelled but it's not an NBC show, but FOX has a habit, like NBC of cancelling shows also. (Titus, and yes at one time, they cancelled Family Guy, which is the first cartoon since the Flinestones to be nominated for a certian EMMY.)
Like another reviewer, I tried to get others to watch it. But I was unsuccessful. Maybe they could do season 5 straight to video. I'd like to find out it Dodge is Earl's and stuff
