Editorial Review:
The sophomore slump is tough for any artist, but it's got to be daunting when your worldwide smash debut four years ago (1998's Left of the Middle) dominated the charts based on someone else's song (Ednaswap's "Torn"). For her second album, pop singer Natalie Imbruglia allies herself with big-name producers/collaborators but takes a slower, moodier direction. While the singer/songwriter has maintained the key elements of her first album--a mixture of pop rock, acoustic and electronic embellishments, and gritty guitars--there's a greater sense of emotional turbulence here. The best moments on this effort are the edgier ones: the anxious opener, "That Day," with its nervous guitar and tumbling lyrics; the yearning space-pop of "Sunlight"; and the sparkling electro-acoustic rock of "Wrong Impression." Not all the tracks are keepers, but there is an appealing honesty and understated quality to White Lilies Island that makes it sound refreshing. After all, sadness can be catchy too. --Bryan Reesman

White Lilies Island Reviews:
One of the great female albums 5 Star Review
2009-09-11 - Superb range and beauty to the music. Natalie puts so much into this album. Lyrics are exquisite. Overflows with creativity and heart. A work of art.

Very good album! 4 Star Review
2009-07-14 - This is definately Natalie Imbruglia folks, but something was missing a little from this album versus the first. It's still a good album...Good lyrics, good vocals, good music, but it doesn't impress me as me. Still it's worth checking out!

Taken with me around the world! 5 Star Review
2009-02-26 - I travel the world a lot and only so many songs can fit on my MP3 player. One thing is for sure, this album is always included! Natalie has an absolutely marvelous voice. Too much of the stuff produced these days is all makeup and no talent. She is definitely ahead of the curve. I've heard all of her albums to-date, and I think this one is the best of them all. If you're used to listening to her first album "Left of the Middle", then you're definitely in for something different. Here she completely remakes herself. Her songs are at times inspirational, touching, and even euphoric.

My favorite song on this album is "Sunlight". Its buried deep into the track listing, but I think it's an important song. It never gets old. It lifts me up when I'm feeling depressed and it gets me in the right mood for my voyages. When at times life gets so tasking and you feel like there's nothing worth living for, Natalie is there to remind you that there is so much more out there that is yet to be experienced and achieved. She forces you to ask the question of if you've really lived this life to the best of its possibility and encourages you to set out and conquer whatever obstructs your path. I haven't been this inspired since listening to Stan Bush in the 1980's.

Thank you Natalie for this album. Though I've never met you, you will always feel like a friend of mine, all the way across the world from Australia. Maybe I'll visit there sometime!

Better With Age 4 Star Review
2009-01-11 - I purchased Natalie's album, Left of the Middle in 1998 and was very happy with it. A few years later I purchased this one but didn't really care for it as much. But, a funny thing happened. This album has been in my collection for about 7 years now and the older I get the more I like it and the less I like Left of the Middle (both, by the way, are still very good). I think this might be due to a more mature style reflected in this newer album. It's more refined and she has shown some growth in her talent. It's just too bad she hasn't done much since. I would like to hear more from this artist.

Hands down her best album!! 5 Star Review
2008-08-28 - Song writers do their best work when something dramatic occurs in their lives. Natalie is fabulous, her voice enchanting, and her lyrics ranging from inspirational to haunting at times! Put it in and don't skip! Let the words and music engage you... I replayed this entire CD for 6 months before I ever put in another one. I simply love her!!
