Jonathan Livingston Seagull: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 5 Star Review
2009-09-26 - This CD arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It has been years since I have heard this album. Listening to the music now makes me want to read the book and see the movie again. Thank you Amazon.com for providing such excellent service!

Fabulous movie & soundtrack 5 Star Review
2009-09-14 - First I must say I love Neil Diamond, 2nd I must say I'm not a very religious or sentimental person. So that being said, I think this is one of the most incredible movies I've ever seen, I saw it when it first came out in the theatres some many years ago, then I stumbled upon a VHS copy of it about 10-15 yrs. ago at a video store & bought it without even knowing the price. I think the music is some of the best Neil Diamond has ever produced, I bought the album as soon as it was released. I think the movie has some of the most incredible shots I've ever seen, don't have a clue how they accomplished this. I think the script in most instances is extremely sappy & very hard to swallow but I loved it anyhow & would recommend it to anyone especially teenage kids.

The Book's Author Sued to have his name removed from the movie. 1 Star Review
2009-08-17 - The direction being taken by the last two "Harry Potter" films in moving farther and farther afield from the books even to adding scenes not in the books, reminded me of this movie "Jonathan Livingston Seagull".

The author was appalled that the movie's resemblance to his book was only the name. The author unfortunately discovered that he had absolutely no control over how his beloved book wasn't brought to the "Big Screen". He sued the production company to have the title of the movie changed and his name removed from the credits. He lost on the movie's name, he won and his name and all reference to his book was deleted from the film credits.

This may be a good movie in and of itself. But, if you have read and love the book, this movie is a big disappointment. Just ask the book's author.

A lyrical Masterpiece. 5 Star Review
2009-05-24 - Stirring, soulful, inspiring and haunting all at the same time. To say that they do not make music like this anymore is an understatement. Although the source material for this soundtrack is firmly rooted in the 70's it has the ability to do what only great works can. It transcends time. I was given the book earlier this year by a very good friend who knew that I needed to read it. Wow! Once I started I could not put it down. I think I finished it in about an hour.
Thanks to Amazon for having this in stock. I ordered two copies of the dvd-one of which I will give to my friend. Although she loves the book she never knew that there was a film, so this way I get to return something of value to her.
This is definately Neil Diamond's best work. It was difficult to get past the song - Be. When I thought that it could not get any better the sequence with- Dear Father- kicked in and it had me, totally, utterly under it's spell. If you need something to just have playing in the background while you are doing stuff around the house, or need something to take away some of the stresses of daily life this can be a powerful meditation for anyone who understands.
This soundtrack along with the dvd would make a cherished gift for someone that needs a little uplifting.
A true classic!

This movie is boring 2 Star Review
2009-05-24 - The book far outsrips the movie. I understand Richard Bach's distress at what was doen to his work in this movie. The best part of the movie is the soundtrack.
