Editorial Review:
Filmed in their hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, Nickelback prove they can rock just as hard live as on record. Aside from the fact that Live at Home features their biggest hits, like "Leader of Men" (from 2000's The State) and "How You Remind Me" (from 2001's Silver Side Up), the sound quality and production values are topnotch. For the most part, this is a straightforward performance (with the exception of a few pyrotechnics)--something fans have grown to expect from Nickelback--but there are a few surprises. "Where Do I Hide" is an extra-long version, so that lead singer-guitarist Chad Kroeger can jump off the stage (security in tow) to mingle with the crowd; "It Ain't Like That" features a vocal from Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell, who takes the band into a darker, more groove-heavy direction; and "Mistake" is acoustic. Live at Home is an essential document for the Nickelback fan. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
Nickelback - Live at Home Reviews:
Good OLD-school Nickelback!!
2009-11-23 - I have had this DVD on my wish list forever and I am SO GLAD I finally got it!!!
This was the first tour that I saw Nickelback on. Jerry Cantrell was with them and the AIC singer had recently passed so Jerry was belting out AIC songs like there was no tomorrow and I loved that!! Nickelback was on their way up and it was a small venue. Chad's hair was nice and long and I loved THAT!! (See the cover pics) It was such an awesome show and I was so afraid that the DVD wouldn't live up to my own memories...
It DOES!! I felt like I was back on the floor of the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA!! And it is BETTER than the newer shows because they were struggling to "make it" and were busy blowing us away with their musical skills and not playing-vegas like they do now. (I've seen them 2 more times since this tour, so I know what I am talking about.) I could almost feel the heat of the crazy flames they were blasting!! It's all here with the added bonus of all the behind the scenes stuff!! You will get the old-school Nickelback concert experience with this DVD and it is AWESOME!! 8*)
This DVD has such a great selection of songs too!! Five old songs from The State, one AIC with Jerry, one that I don't know where it comes from and of course lots from Silver Side Up because that is the album that they were promoting. It was a great show in-person and it makes a GREAT DVD give it a try!!
This ROCKS!!!!!!
2009-02-14 - If you like Nickelback... You'll love this DVD! I watch it over and over again on the weekends on my 5.1 surround sound system. I hope they come out with a 2009 DVD concert video, I look forward to it and will purchase it as soon as it's available.
VIP tickets rock!!!!
GREAT!!!!
2008-11-02 - I bought this dvd before and loved it then but my son accidentally destroyed it so I had to buy another copy which was no problem. I received it shortly after I ordered it and it's still great the second time around. I love this band, Chad Kroeger is arguably the hottest canadian on the planet and well this band can only get better, I just wish they'd do another more recent live performance.
