Editorial Review:
In her electrifying first novel, Nicole Richie tells the sensational story of Chloe Parker, a rock royalty princess and a card-carrying member of Hollywood's inner circle. At the age of seven, Chloe was adopted by a music superstar and his wife, transforming her life from rags to riches. What followed was a wild childhood distinguished by parties with movie stars and rock idols, run-ins with the press and the police, and a subsequent stint in rehab.
Suddenly Chloe shoots to instant fame as a spokesmodel for a national ad campaign. When her long-lost birth father appears out of nowhere and her best friend betrays her, she must struggle to keep it all together -- her sobriety, her friendships, and her integrity despite the betrayals of those around her. Ultimately, Chloe comes spectacularly into her own, achieving stardom in her own right and finding true love.
Through the eyes of the captivating Chloe and the talented voice of Nicole Richie, we are given a no-holds-barred look at Hollywood's new elite, behind the velvet ropes, inside star-studded premieres and parties. Whether they're doing the "circuit" (begin with shopping at Barneys New York, Marni, and Fred Segal, then end with the grilled vegetable salad at the Ivy), or ending up on the front page of your favorite weekly magazine, Chloe Parker and her fellow A-listers never fail to dazzle, their larger-than-life dramas more riveting than any reality show.
The Truth About Diamonds: A Novel Reviews:
Nicole Richie is just another worthless star
2009-12-01 - Nicole Richie is famous for being the daughter of Lionel Richie and being a little spoiled brat. Great. When is she going to do something to deserve her own fame? Because this book is not it.
Seriously one of the DUMBEST books EVER!
2009-11-30 - I absolutely adore "chick lit" and celebrity novels, I was so excited to finally read the book - yet, it left me extremely disappointed! The story has no substance whatsoever, the plot is inconsistent, basically it's like an 8th grader wrote it. I had no reading pleasure at all with this book. It was like reading the diary of a junior high brat who lives in California. And NOT an entertaining one at that. Ugh! A complete waste of time. Do yourself a huge favor and don't bother with this book!
thanks but no thanks!
2009-11-30 - A $14 book that's only 226 pages? Umm... no thanks.
Mark it down to a clearance of $2 and you might be able to get rid of your stock of unreadable books, Nicole!
Another "celebrity" with no talent!
2009-11-30 - The truth about diamonds by Nicole Richie is trash from beginning to end. Her writing is one-sided and calculated. How many times have we seen her on TV. in the last couple of years, I am sick of her and how many times does this girl get in trouble with the law?....too many! If she wasn't Lionel Richie's daughter, this book would've never got published! This girl has absolutely no talent and that is one thing her daddy cant buy her! Maybe if America is lucky, she'd go on a trip and never come back!
Trash
2009-11-27 - I like to browse through the best sellers, but I am shocked that this is one of them! I did not buy it, as I am not about to support such overexposed, materialistic hype. This kind of trashy read is just the kind of thing that kids do not need to be looking up to. It is sad that crap like this gets printed, but publishers do it for the money. It is even sadder that people spend their hard earned money on this. Do you really think Nicole would want to be YOUR friend? Only if you are a billionaire!
Perhaps if Ms. Richie actually had something to be proud of, other than sex videos, partying, having kids, doing drugs and lots of money that she did not earn herself, maybe she would not have to make such a repulsive 'book'. A good role model has education, intelligence, works hard, and always thinks of others. This girl is not it. If you like Hollywood glamour, look at the photos, but the book is really a waste.
