    Nirvana - In Performance Reviews:
Really poorly done 1 Star Review
2009-05-04 - This dvd shows no more than 15 seconds of Nirvana in performance at a time before the music is interrupted by "music writers" yammering incessantly about what most Nirvana fans already know. The title of this dvd makes you think you can watch it and sit back and enjoy Nirvana playing songs and being Nirvana. That DOES NOT HAPPEN in this video AT ALL.

Very nice DVD with some rare performance videos 5 Star Review
2007-12-25 - This is it! The DVD every Nirvana collector who likes and/or liked the music of the band Nirvana (USA) should have! Buy it immediately case you haven't purchased it yet.
The 'Nirvana - In Performance' DVD is actually a book which contains inside itself the DVD; a small and short book with very interesting information about this band. So it is called: DVD and book set. The book could replace every Nirvana biography book, case you wanted to know something interesting, true and truly inspiring about this band from Seattle - considering I read the two most popular Nirvana biographies: 'Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana' by Michael Azerrad and 'Heavier than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain' by Charles R. Cross. Actually, both of these books are very realistic and the 'In Performance DVD and book set' is as good as both of them! The 'Edgehill Publishing Ltd.' did a great job publishing this DVD and book set! It also contains the detailed and complete Nirvana discography with song explanations. On the other hand, the DVD is the masterpiece of Nirvana performance and concerting. It doesn't show you the complete shows but the song excerpts which are absolutely fabulous! The live performances of songs like 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', 'Lithium', 'Come As You Are' and 'Heart-Shaped Box' are followed by different narrators' criticisms. The experts' masterpiece! As I have already said before: do not hesitate to complete your Nirvana collection of the year 2007 with this purchase! This is a jewel which every Nirvana fan should have at home.

Avoid the "In Performance" sets at all costs 1 Star Review
2007-10-10 - Apparently the "In Performance" series is a way to rip off fans who will buy anything and everything with their favorite artists' names on it. Just like the other reviewer of this set said, it's just partial footage of some live stuff that was available in other places anyway, along with so-called music experts making inane comments on the band along the way. Very, very weak material. Glad I got to see it for free and didn't have to buy it.

For Nirvana fans looking for a video documentary, "Live Tonight Sold Out!" is the only way to go, really. Don't waste your time on this "In Performance" set.

Absolutely a waste of money 1 Star Review
2007-08-01 - I bought this not knowing what it was and figuring it to be at least a DVD containing a couple of mediocre quality boot-leg concerts. I was very, very wrong.
The packaging seemed promising, being a nice hard cover book with a disc in the back. The song listing included a concert from Rome, SNL apperances, and a Eurpean television show appearence. This was much more that I expected until I tried watching it.
The DVD turns out to be a bad documentery with arbitraty music critics talking over every song in a split screen format that rarely shows the live footage in a frame bigger than 1-4 of the screen.
It quickly became annoying so I looked at the book that includes a track by track breakdown of every album. Instead of insightful tid-bits the discriptions are simplistic and stupid comments like " this song begins very loud but has a suprisingly melodic chorus".
Overall, this is a well packaged way of ripping you off. I suggest people intrested in purchasing this should instead by Sea Monkeys, or use the money to play ring-toss at a carnival.
