Description of Not Too Late:
Although the music of Norah Jones continues to blend pop, soul, folk, and country with a seasoning of jazz, her third album for Blue Note is the first where she's written (or collaborated on) all the material. Beneath the smooth surface lie darker strains on the album-opening "Wish I Could" (about a boyfriend lost to war), intimations of mortality in "The Sun Doesn't Like You," and the post-election horrors of "My Dear Country." The last seems to channel the inspiration of Brecht/Weill, while the equally bleak "Sinkin' Soon" is set to a jaunty Dixieland rag. Throughout, Jones's vocal intimacy and melodic warmth remain as disarmingly understated as ever. The soulful "Thinking of You," the countryish "Wake Me Up," and the syncopated "Be My Somebody" reflect the captivating style of her previous work. Although too much in the same midtempo mode becomes a dreamy lull, cut by cut, Jones's voice is irresistible. --Don McLeese
Not Too Late Reviews:
Excellent Music!
2009-11-17 - I missed out on "Not Too Late" due to a COMA, but now I've gotten to catch up. Excellent music!

Good stuff
2009-01-07 - Back to the quality of her first and second album. If you like Nora you'll enjoy this album.
another nora jones
2008-11-29 - Norah Jones and her music is not my faorite. The was purchased for my Mother, who likes her music.
Beautiful.
2008-09-16 - I first fell in love with "Sinkin' Soon", but have now fallen in love with many other tracks on this CD. "My Dear Country" has become a new favorite, especially considering all of the political debates filling every TV station and Pub lately... can't get away from it! There is a good variety of sounds and influence... some blues, some jazz, a bit of folk, and some hauntingly burlesque beats. And of course, Norah's beautiful voice carries you through each song as if reading tales from a storybook. I highly recommend this CD!
Norah shines, videos not so much
2007-11-01 - The music is what you get on the unenhanced CD, vintage Norah with several of her best tracks yet. My favorite is 'The Sun Doesn't Like You' - very dark, threatening, totally non-specific, with this really neat strong music (vocal and instrumental).
I hoped for one or two different songs on the DVD (you get that on her first DVD), but that doesn't happen. I'm not a great fan of videos. These are far better than most (visual quality, concept, execution), but I'd have been happier with more of the rehearsal footage,or small-house concert ...
And I'm picky.
