The Chill Album Reviews:
The girl grew up
2008-03-12 - I have many feelings in my head about this album. But the strongest is the feeling that somehow Norah grew up and her voice that used to be nice and charm now is sexy and a bit spicy.
This is not a Norah Jone's album. This is a very well done experiment. The chill out, ambient sounds and some electronic effects mixed here, are extremely smoothed by Norah's voice.
If you like Norah Jones and Chill out, what are you waiting for? put your hands on this!!
One last advice, please don't listen this album while you are roasting the BBQ, don't be mean!. Take your time, relax and enjoy it.
Not enough Norah Jones
2007-01-15 - The only reason I picked up this album was the name Norah Jones. I was expecting to hear her at the forefront, and I didn't really. To be honest, I was hoping to hear more of what she sounded like in Come Away With Me and Feels Like Home. If you're looking for Norah Jones, this isn't really the album you're looking for.
The lounge and chillout scene was very decent compared to the original remix album
2006-01-17 - Again, I was not expecting to see anything after the initial release of the REMIX album that came from the original New York City album by Peter Malick and Norah Jones. I thought the idea of a chill album sounded more intriguing than what was heard on the REMIX album. DJ Strobe did a very nice job on creating some lazy, layed back beats and rhythms for the songs chosen to be in this album (personal favorites: Things You Don't Have To Do & New York City). I really thought was a good chance to make up for the dissapointment of the REMIX album. I also agree with the other person though on the idea of accepting what this version of New York City has to offer. I thought this one was done very well.
Don't Sleep On this
2005-10-30 - If you like the lounge and chillout genre, try this on for size. This reconstuction of the New York City album only proves that with the right production, Norah's voice can fit with any genre. Don't compare it with her albums like "Come Away With Me," becasue it is a work in it's own right. Embrace it for what it is and enjoy hearing Norah's voice and DJ Strobe's production blended to perfection.
