Description of Home for Christmas:
Home is the last place these pop-aholics will be at Christmas: 'N Sync were on such a tight touring schedule in 1998, it's a wonder they even had time to record this disc in time for the holidays. The standard carols--"The First Noël," and "The Christmas Song"--aren't nearly as much fun as the original tracks here, but the a cappella version of "O Holy Night" is by far the masterpiece, and proof that the boys are more than just hyper-pretty faces. In fact, their superbly blended harmonies save what could have been ill-fated attempts to put a '90s R&B spin on songs like "In Love on Christmas" and the title track. "The Only Gift" and "Under My Tree" are addictive despite being overly cute, and you'll have a hard time getting "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" out of your head. Keep in mind that Christmas CDs belong in the background, let go of your anti-pop prejudices for just one day, and you'll be bopping along with the boys in no time. --Rebecca Wallwork
Home for Christmas Reviews:
Probably my favorite pop Christmas album
2009-12-10 - *NSYNC aren't the Beatles or Pink Floyd, but their music includes some beautiful vocal harmonies. This album really shows the true spirit of Christmas although it was probably only done for a few additional bucks, like all Christmas albums. A lot of people have said horrible stuff about teen pop, but when I decided to re-listen to all of this music I listened to as a child, instead of thinking, yikes I was an idiot to like this crap, I now actually have even more appreciation for it.
A lot of the songs are basically about a guy telling his girlfriend that all he cares about for Christmas is his girlfriend, but it's mainly pretty good. The a cappella version of "O Holy Night," is probably the most amazing version I've heard of that song, and I like the song "All I Want is You This Christmas." With that track, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick both sang lead, which isn't too common. There was also a really nice saxophone solo that might have had that elevator music feel, was also kind of nice to hear. The big hit was "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays," which had a nice piano accompaniment. The teen pop music scene has been laughed at, but I feel that a lot of it has been very well crafted and put together. It's also probably my favorite *NSYNC album.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
2009-11-23 - I have always loved Nsync. I was very sad after the group disbanded. This Christmas album "Home for Christmas" has classics on it such as "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" and "O Holy Night" (sang A Capella) as well as a few other note worthy songs. I would say I liked the album very much. I do wish there had been more classics and less love songs, but the album was very well done. I certainly recommend this album. It's fun to listen to. And if you love Nsync as much as I did back in the 90's, then this album is a must have.
It's my daughters fault!!!
2009-01-19 - This was one of my daughter's favorite Christmas Cd's when it first came out - I thought "oh, no - not another teeny bop cd I have to listen to!" Boy was I surprised - I loved it! Over the years it had gotten lost, stolen or permanently borrowed by someone. I searched high and low for this year because I happened to hear it on the radio and remembered how much I loved it. I was so excited to get it, I may have already worn it out(thank goodness it's not an LP or it truly would be! Showing my age aren't I?) - I wouldn't even let my now 20yr old daughter borrow it. I wish it was Christmas all year long!
Incredible!!
2009-01-14 - I know-- I know... NSYNC?? I'm 50 and I still love "merry christmas happy holidays"!!! It's one of my favorite Christmas songs!! If you love NSYNC, you'll love their Christmas CD!
NSYNC Home For Christmas Album
2009-01-09 - This CD has one song that I like which is "All I Want Is You This Christmas". I haven't listen to the rest of the other songs yet, only some of them and they are all right.
