2009 album from the California quartet. In a musical climate dominated by Electro and Synth, multi-platinum Grammy-nominated Papa Roach return to tear things up, unleashing a new album which conjures a vicious, vibrant intensity that is raw, relevant and ready to rock. Since bursting onto the scene in 2000, the band have toured the world and scored four top 10 US hits. Metamorphosis' first single 'Hollywood Whore' is a ferocious Rock track with a contagious and undeniable chorus.

A De-volution This Time Around 
2009-11-08 - Just like the insect that they share their name with, Papa Roach is hardy and has been around for awhile now without any signs of slowing down. They titled this, their fifth album, "Metamorphosis, because they lost their original drummer; this is their first member change since they formed, and they said that they keep evolving their sound. Here is my take on this assumed "Metamorphosis".

I don't know if my taste are just changing or what, but I just can't really get into this album. Their last album "Paramour Sessions" was a great combination of hard rock, and alt metal, and is by far my favorite Papa Roach album. This album is a lot softer, and a lot more cock rock. "I Almost Told You That I Loved You" is straight Motley Crue meets Hinder, and I do think that was the plan. A terrible song that really makes me question this band. The intro song doesn't do anything for me, and while some songs are decent, none of them have parts that make me want to put this album on...ever.
The best song is the lead single "Lifeline" solely because of the catchy riff and huge chorus. "Had Enough" is really boring, and mediocre. "Live This Down" is competent but could have been written by any other hard rock band out today. And lyrically, again, that track is just a trashy, revenge filled cracked out relationship song. Jacoby could do better then this.
Seriously I don't know what I feel this way, but this album just bores me. I don't feel the passion on this album. The songs are lackluster, and Horton's riffs aren't signature Horton this time. I understand a band changing, but this "metamorphosis" is definitely not an evolution, by any means. This album is average in a time where it's relatively easy to find many bands that you love, that have excellent albums. People obsessed with this band might love it, but for me, it's not really a transformation, but maybe a devolution. This album is mediocre, and at the bottom of Papa Roach's discography.

2009-09-01 - Papa Roach is the gayest band who ever lived. They are not metal nor will they ever be. They are MTV pop B.S. for teenage girls who like the appeal of metal without all of the brutality.First they were rap-metal then they alt-metal and then glam rock. They don't know who the hell they are and frankly they are lousy musicians who couldn't write a real metal song to save their lives. All of you P-roach fans are posers.THEY SUCKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A Must Have 
2009-07-14 - I've been following Papa Roach since "Getting Away With Murder" came out, and while that album blew me away, I was a little disappointed in "The Paramour Sessions". "Metamorphosis" has a distinct 80s rock feel to it that the other 2 albums didn't have, and while I still think I like GAWM better, "Metamorphosis" is one of the best albums I've ever heard.
"Hollywood Whore", "I Almost Told You That I Love You", and "Lifeline" are very infectious, both lyrically and instrumentally. "Nights of Love", "March Out of the Darkness", and "State of Emergency" are equally addictive, and "Carry Me" is probably the most gripping song on the album.
The album's theme deals mostly with the violence and hatred we see so much in society, and how it tears us apart ("Hollywood Whore", "Live This Down", and "I Almost Told You That I Love You" are the exceptions). It's really the first P-Roach album with a message that really stands out.
Jacoby Shaddix's voice sounds incredible in the slower moments of some of the songs like "Had Enough", "Carry Me", and "Nights of Love", and the band provides some of the most infectious rhythms you'll ever hear.
This is a must-buy for anyone who likes rock music of any decade.

There's something missing... 
2009-07-13 - About 2 1/2 years later, P-Roach is back with yet another album. Putting aside the ridiculous cover at first glance and giving the new tunes a try, what kind of impression do they make...?
Hearing the first single "Hollywood Whore", I thought that maybe Jacoby and crew had returned with some of the edge they had on the earlier work of Infest, or maybe even Getting Away With Murder. Unfortunately, that's not really the case; Just like many bands now days, The Roach has slipped into some "Mainstream" habits.
Now not to criticize the band or their music - which i still love - it's just not the music that I was expecting from a band that's always been on the edge of where they really want to be and what they want to sound like. Sure songs like "Lifeline", "Had Enough" and "March Out of the Darkness" are great, but it's just not where their style should have gone. At least on Paramour Sessions they formed songs that had great melodies and still had their "edge", plus some diversity about them. Hear on Metamorphosis, there's nothing catchy or unique about them. It's pretty generic rock. Is that bad? Not necessarily. It's just that it's a simple-minded album with something missing - thought.
Still though, I enjoy this album. It's a good listen, and definately worth picking up for those who enjoy this particular genre of rock. I just hope more thought goes into their next stuff. Otherwise, Papa Roach will be one of the many forgettable bands with forgettable music.

2009-07-11 - I have been a very big fan of Papa Roach since they broke onto the scene. That being said... This is Papa Roach's best album! There is not a song on this album that I do not enjoy! Great job! I knew it would be a hit when they performed "Lifeline" at CrueFest 2008! And I never thought they would beat out the prior album!
