Editorial Review:
Reality show star, amateur porn hobbyist and regular party fixture; hotel heiress Paris Hilton has decided she would also like to try her hand at being a pop singer. Just because you suspect she hasn't had any formal musical training, never paid dues by belting her heart out with the Mickey Mouse Club, or that she quite possibly bought her way into this whole racket on an expensive whim shouldn't stop you from spending a few frothy minutes with her opening shot, Paris. The single "Stars Are Blind" has a nice breezy faux-reggae vibe, producer Scott Storch sprinkles several tracks with his billion-dollar beats and there's even a tuneless version of "Do Ya Think of Sexy" that actually makes the original sound good. Pulling that off takes some talent, right? – Aidin Vaziri

Paris Reviews:
My brain was raped and Im emotionally traumatized 1 Star Review
2008-07-06 - I bought this used about a year ago. It was downright horrible and generic. Stars are blind is a rip off of a UB-40 song. It emcompasses the same beat and music with fake studio vocals. You know she can't really sing. I hope she dies.

Well... 1 Star Review
2008-07-01 - Although it sounds extremely bad, we now can all admit it is better than Scarlett Johanssen's horrible CD... :) It truly proves that everything is relative.

America's most underestimated socialite hits a home run 4 Star Review
2008-05-18 - What comes to mind when you think of Paris Hilton? Most likely, a few derogatory words regarding her and her past experiences; most of which spawned from a certain home video with a certain ex-boyfriend. Seldom do we think of Ms. Hilton as anything even remotely close to a singer. Her self-titled album's goal is to change our minds, and to make us think of Paris as a veracious singer. Does she accomplish this goal? Judging by the number of 1-star rated reviews, no. For me, however, this album sets Paris Hilton as a truly phenomenal singer.

"Paris" starts off with the dance club-oriented "Turn It Up", which is my favorite song off the entire album. Too bad it wasn't released as a true single, or else that would of sent the album's approximate 1,000,000 sales skyrocketing. This song literally forces you to get up and dance, even if it's in the privacy of your own home. I like how the song starts off with the words "That's hot". Since this is the maiden song off the album, those are the first words of the album. That automatically makes you think: "yep, that's Paris Hilton!"

The album's only downfall lies in track two. The second song is titled "Fightin' Over Me", and features hip hop artists Fat Joe and Jadakiss. How can I spell this out? The song just doesn't work. The song should be a little less Fat Joe/Jadakiss and a little more Paris. "Paris" recovers posthaste with Track 3, "Stars Are Blind." This is my 2nd-favorite song off the album, and with good reason. The song flows in a congenial manner and manages to be suggestive without being vulgar. This song also has my all-time favorite remix, the Luny Tunes remix, which features Wisin & Yandel. If you're a fan of "Stars Are Blind" and Reggaeton, you should check out that remix.

The next song is "I Want You", which sounds like it's straight out of the 70s. Not only that, but Paris' voice seems to deepen a little on this song. Overall, a good song, not much more to say. Up next is "Jealousy." How many people think this song is about Nicole Richie? Apparently, a lot. I don't really care who the song is about, I care more about the song itself. The song is stupendous. "Heartbeat", the album's next song, embodies the album's most out-of-place verse. "My heart beats like a drum when I hear you come." It's the way she says "come" that suggests something other than her lover arriving. Whether she did this consciously or not, we'll never know. Things get livened up with the next track; the popular "Nothing In This World." This song is extremely addictive, and contingently the most fun to listen to. The lyrics are scintillating, entertaining, and they just work to deliver a marvelous song.

"Screwed" is the next single off "Paris", and is the only song in the album who's name I laugh at. Paris Hilton. "Screwed." You get what I mean. In my opinion, the song's title is both a wink at her listeners and a marketing technique wrapped into one. Think about it..."Download 'Paris Hilton - Screwed'." Who wouldn't download it? The song itself has a very addictive rhythm, complete with more clever lyrics. Her next song, "Not Leaving Without You", tries to get "there", but doesn't get "there" per se. The song's a little weak, and the whole concept is a little weak as well. The song to me sounds very repetitive, using the same words over and over for what seems like more than three-and-a-half minutes. Not as bad as "Fightin' Over Me", but not even close to the league "Turn It Up" is in.

First, she wants you to "Turn It Up", then she wants to "Turn You On." This song is more like "Stars Are Blind"'s more "adult" sister. It talks about "gettin' some", her being "hot, bitch", and you taking a cold shower when you get home. If you can handle Paris' demeanor in this track, you will without a doubt enjoy this song. The last song, "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?", ends the album. The song has an ending works very well, with its upbeat, dance-oriented rhythm. Interestingly, this song is actually a cover version of Rod Stewart's 1979 hit single by the same name.

Overall, for a debut album, "Paris" is one of my favorites. It gets 4 stars mainly because of the song "Fightin' Over Me", which I just abhor, and for being a little humdrum here and there. And yes, Paris Hilton is working on a second album. My hope is that she'll take what she learned with "Paris" and turn it into a flawless second album. After her second album comes out, will more and more people will see her as an actual singer, instead of a talentless socialite? Only time will tell.

Lots of good things 3 Star Review
2008-04-04 - I liked this product for the following reasons:

a) The heavily retouched cover photo of Paris fits neatly on my dartboard.
b) The disc itself makes a perfectly serviceable mug mat.
c) You can recycle/reuse the jewel outer case.
d) Not owning a cd player, I do not have to concern myself with her pitiful songs.

Open your mind and listen 5 Star Review
2008-03-30 - This album is amazingly good. One of the best pop/rock albums in years. I am somebody that owns over 2,000 LP's and CD's. I've been a music fan for 35 years. And I have been especially enamored over the years by female singers, Carly, Blondie, Joan Jett and dozens of others. I second what many reviewers said, that if xtina, Gwen, et al had released this identical album, it would be praised, probably getting a 4 star/ 2 page review in Rolling Stone. But because it's PH, many people will be predisposed to hate it. I started from the place of actually loving Paris Hilton. I think she is gorgeous, dresses with a great fashion flair, is a fun media personality, and generally makes this terrible world a happier place. I really don't understand why she is so hated or just made fun of by so many people. It's almost become standard operating procedure to mock her in the press. I really don't get it.

And yet: I bought this CD over a year ago and it sat unopened until a week ago. I kinda dreaded actually playing it because I figured it would suck. When I finally put it in the car CD player, I was just hoping it would not be a total disaster. But right from the very first song, I could tell this was going to be good. What I did not expect is how there are no weak songs on the album, how good her voice sounds (although I assume that a lot of that has to do with great producers, especially Scott Storch) how fun and catchy the songs are, and how this is a real album, from beginning to end. It's like in the good old days of the 70's when I would sit down with a new vinyl album and listen intently. This is THAT kind of well-done ALBUM! Wow, this sure is a crazy world sometimes, when a Paris Hilton can give me a musical experience that reminds me of the first time I put on "Eat to the Beat".

Oh Paris, I'll never get to meet you. But you are my BFFL
