  • Editorial Review:
Beautifully restored, this inspiring true story of Holocaust survivor Corrie ten Boom (played by Golden Globe nominated Jeannette Clift) now outshines it own stunning Hollywood Premiere. With the WWII Nazi invasion of Holland, the ten Boom family joins the underground resistance to help save persecuted Jewish families. But when they are arrested and imprisoned in concentration camps themselves, they're left with nothing to cling to but their faith.

The Hiding Place - DVD Reviews:
A Great Story of Love 5 Star Review
2009-09-12 - This movie was bought on the recommendation of our pastor. It tells the story of Corrie Ten Boom during WWII when so many Jewish children were taken to the camps. She and her family and friends collected Jewish children, kept a record of where they were placed and kept them safe during the war.

Ten Boom and her sister were both sent to the camps for what they did, while friends who helped were killed. Her sister died but Corrie lived and was alive when the video was made and actually spoke about what she did at the end.

This is a story of true love; not in the romantic sense, although she did fall in love with a Jewish man and they married, but in the sense of risking her own life to save the lives of many children whose only "crime" was being born Jewish.

Don't be fooled 3 Star Review
2009-04-21 - Don't be fooled...this is a mediocre movie. The enthusiasm for it is not about film or drama or history; it is about Christian zeal and otherworldly piety.

Of course, there is no denying the courage of these people in putting themselves in great peril to aid Jews in the Holocaust. But, personally, I found the repetition of Christian clichés and hysterical belief to be insufferable. We hear incessantly that "the Lord will not put on us something that we can not bear" yada yada yada yada. And, these folks seemed to operate their lives based on direct instructions from Above. It is the silliest poppycock imaginable, although I recognize that hundreds of millions of intellectual children believe this rubbish.

Perhaps more annoying than the mystical belief was the childlike carelessness with which they went about their mission. I suppose they felt that since they had divine protection, they did not need to be cautious. Let it be a lesson to all: There are dangerous realities out there in the world -- Nazis, for example -- and if you believe, as they did, that you have magical protection, you, also, are apt to suffer devastating consequences.

Classic story of redemption 5 Star Review
2009-01-19 - The casting is perfect, the story is timeless, the drama will bring tears to your eyes and the cinematography is phenomenal. A+++

    Never forget. 5 Star Review
2009-01-14 - Based on true story of the Ten Boom fanily in the Netherlands during WWII and the Nazi invasion. As Christians they became involved in helping Jews escape. Betrayed, the Ten Booms were sent to a concentration camp. Corrie Ten Boom's sister and father died there. Corrie went on to have an international impact for good.

This version has additional info on a second DVD which is terrific.

A tough way to live 4 Star Review
2007-03-28 - This is an amazing story of faith and courage. I cannot image the awesome trust in God it must have took to withstand all of this. The mental toughness required to endure such hell is unthinkable. A truly great true story. You need to see this one for sure!
