2006-11-23 - "...and i love you...always ! " that song is the one that prompted me to look for this record . this cd is a good selection for old fans or new, but i love, love, love that song , "always".

2000-07-17 - I have to admit that I have never been a fan of this song, or the other sentimental tragic ballads recorded in the 1950s and 60s. Or ever, for that matter - there just seemed to be a lot of them during that period! I've always been bothered particularly by this song because the tune and the lyrics are so inappropriate for each other. Bouncy happy music, while singing about how your love just died in a car wreck (or was that "Teen Angel"?) just doesn't work for me. That said, even though the Pearl Jam version doesn't really alter either of these, Eddie Vedder's voice, which almost always seems somewhat mournful, is a much better fit for this song that than the original artist's was. For that very reason I give this recording 3 stars - the original would only get one!

2000-07-03 - I can not believe my eyes. Some of you are saying this is the greatest song ever? This has to be a mistake....
It's the 'where oh where can my baby be...' song isn't it? Bloody heck. This is the best you've heard?
The first time i heard this was on some boring commercial radio station. I remember it distinctly because i actually laughed out loud as i heard it - not something that i do everyday... I thought it must've been some local singer getting radio play for a little bit of a career boost. Later, to my disgust, i find that its by the Pearl Jam dudes.
Its fair enough though, to release a bad song. Everyone does that now and then, but to hear people saying its the 'best song ever'?
I admit that i never heard the original... although i doubt very much that it could sink lower than this piece of trash.
This song isn't sad. What *is* sad is how some people can say its the best they've *ever* heard. Geeeeeezeeee...It has a ridiculously boppy tune that does nothing to add to the emotion of the otherwise decent lyrics...
if you wanna hear a song with a bit of emotional kick, have a listen to Van Morrison singing "T.B sheets", or Bob Dylan singing "Masters of War". Actually, *any* other song that has ever been classified as 'sad' would be better than this.
If i could give this song less than one star, i would.
It's hard to put into words the disgust that i feel when people praise this song to the highest of highs.
