THE MAN & THE JOURNEY (Live) Reviews: Buyer Beware 2006-10-28 - Yes, the show is great even if the sound is muddy from high-generation tapes of a radio broadcast. However, this is NOT a legal release in the US and is considered a BOOTLEG. It would be nice if the original pre-broadcast tapes could be located and released, but given PF's track record on releasing rare material, it seems unlikely.
And just so you know, the songs may have titles that are unfamiliar, but that's only because they were renamed when this concept was abandoned. Google and see.
One of the most amazing Pink Floyd shows ever recorded. 2005-11-02 - This album finds the Pink Floyd at what some consider their post-Barrett psychedelic high-water mark in 1969; most of the movements in these pieces were cut, reassembled, and rerecorded for their movie sountrack albums from the same period: Zabriskie Point, and More.
Faithful devotees and students of the band will find it most instructive to compare the original full-length mini-rock operas listed below to the cuts as they were actually released on various LPs (in parenthesis) for the fullest appreciation of the genius evident in this performance!
While the sound can be a little spotty, it must be remembered that this was originally a bootleg recording of the Dutch Radio Broadcast. Changes in laws in certain countries concerning live recordings more than 30 years old have allowed this product to be released legitimately in some non-U.S. and non-E.U. Countries.
However its release is in no way authorized or endorsed by the Pink Floyd. So get it while you can!!!
