Somewhat Disappointed
2006-12-22 - Bought this cd with the hopes of superior sound quality. Equipment used...Belles 150 A Hot Rod amp, Conrad-Johnson PV-11 tube pre-amp, Escalante Design speakers, HSU sub woofer. Not that my system is so called high end at about 10k, but I think it is worthy of this review. I paid $200.00 for this version of Dark Side Of The Moon. Having a U.S. remaster and the Mobile Fidelity Gold remaster. Thought I would take the plunge and hope to get something higher in quality. Seldom am I disappointed with remasters. But this one does not do the trick at $200.00 Save your $ and buy the Mobile Fidelity Gold version for $40.00-$60.00. That is unless you have a high end system. Overall the sound is "slightly cleaner" with a little more depth in bass than the Mobile Fidelity version.

Psychedelic Musical Milestone
2003-06-06 - The Dark Side Of The Moon is more like a journey than an album. You don't just listen to this, you experience it. It's one of those rare but wonderful records that isn't just a collection of songs cobbled together until it's long enough to be called an album, but rather an aural tome, chronicling the journey through one man's mind. Although each track is stunning, and a gem in its own right, Dark Side Of The Moon is in its element when listened to from start to finish, with the lights out, and accompanied by a hallucinogenic narcotic of your choice, if you're into that sort of thing. Pink Floyd have managed to do what no psychologist can, they have created an atlas of the human mind.
The only track which is a slight let-down is On The Run, a synth-experimental "song" which is the musical equivalent of The Matrix Reloaded: groundbreaking special effects, but an utterly unintelligible plot.
A decided landmark in musical history, Dark Side Of The Moon would go on to inspire such greats as the eccentric alt group MatronsApron, and the Floydian influence stretches even so far as gangsta rap group D-12.
Although it's a cliché, there are some albums that every good record collection cannot afford to be without, and Dark Side Of The Moon is certainly one of them. It is a multi-purpose tool, a Swiss Army Album if you will. Whether you're a musical musician wanting musician's music, a casual listener, a stoner, a long distance lorry driver, or just want some accompaniment for a dinner party, this album is guaranteed to enhance an otherwise rather more monotonous forty minutes of your life.

Direct From Japan!
2003-02-23 - My parents took a trip to Japan, and when they went they got me Dark Side Of The Moon. Other than it containing a little fold out insert with all of the Japanese writing as well as advertising for other Floyd albums everything is in English.

It sounds great, but I don't know if there's any change between North American and Japanese versions. And there were NO mini posters or stickers unlike some people have said.

People might think it "sounds" better because it is the 1992 Digital Remaster and the CD is Copyright 1994.

I don't know if it's worth the price to have it imported, but if someone you know goes over and buys it for 2,500 Yen, get it!

The best version of this album.
2003-01-22 - This is the definitive version of this great album. All the inserts in here also came with the original lp. 2 posters and 2 stickers. You also get the A and B side labels from the original lp. Very cool! This cd has a little extra bass, which I like, and the sound quality is perfect. If you don't have this album on cd already, this is the only way to go. If you have it already on cd, upgrade to this one!

Outstanding sound quality, amazing case
2002-02-06 - I have listened to Dark Side 1,000's of times on both Vinyl and the normal CD version. When I fist heard of the Japan version I was mainly interested in it because of its mini-lp style case, but when I listed to it for the fist time I was blown away. The why I like it more then the original CD is because it sounds more like the Vinyl version, there is more bass and it uses the Left and Right channels more which gives it more depth due to the fact it sounds more like the music is around you rather then just in front. I would recommend this version to anyone who has a high end system, listens it on head phones, or someone who just wants to collect it because EMI is stopping production.
