Editorial Review:
WITHOUT A TRACE is a fast-paced procedural drama about the Missing Persons Squad of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The sole responsibility of the special task force is to find missing persons by applying advanced psychological profiling techniques. The team reconstructs a "Day of Disappearance" timeline that details every minute of the 24 hours prior to the disappearance, following one simple rule: learn who the victim is in order to learn where the victim is. Senior agent Jack Malone (Anthony LaPaglia) heads the dedicated team. His squad includes Samantha Spade (Poppy Montgomery), Vivian Johnson (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), Danny Taylor (Enrique Murciano), and Martin Fitzgerald (Eric Close)

Description of Without a Trace - The Complete First Season:
It has not taken long for Without a Trace to emerge from the shadows of CSI and become a ratings force in its own right. Jerry Bruckheimer produced both series, and both feature the-face-is-familiar character actors with extensive and diverse resumes who have been catapulted to primetime stardom. Jack Malone, head of a crack FBI missing persons unit, is the Australian-born Anthony LaPaglia's breakout role after years of portraying enough Italian mobsters and criminals to populate a season of The Sopranos. LaPaglia was a surprise Golden Globe Award-winner for this inaugural season. Without a Trace is instantly arresting. "The clock is ticking" in each episode, as Malone and company race against time to find a missing person. "After 48 hours," Malone explains to the rookie member of the team in the series pilot, "they're gone." To solve each baffling case, Malone and fellow agents Samantha Spade (Poppy Montgomery), Vivian Johnson (Marianne Jean-Baptiste of Secrets and Lies), Danny Taylor (Enrique Murciano), and new guy Martin Fitzgerald (Eric Close), must work from the inside out. "Once we find out who she is," Malone says of one victim, "odds are we'll find out where she is."
Among the inaugural season's most wrenching episodes are "Between the Cracks" and "Hang On to Me," both featuring Charles Dutton in his Emmy Award-winning performance as a father whose son has been missing for five years. The powerful season finale, "Fallout," presented in this four-disc set in a "creator's cut," concerns a man who lost his wife in the 9/11 attacks. The riveting episodes mostly stand alone, but some cases do return to haunt Malone, as witness "In Extremis," a case that ends tragically and leads to an internal investigation that threatens to subvert the close-knit unit in the episode. "Are You Now or Have You Ever Been?" Sharp writing, authentic procedurals, taut direction, and effective use of music make Without a Trace a series worth finding on DVD. --Donald Liebenson
Without a Trace - The Complete First Season Reviews:
very realistic, very engaging
2009-10-06 - This is a superb show...with a cast of characters you care about and great themes for each episode. Not without flaws, sometimes the shows get a little overblown (like CSI on many occasions), but worth owning if only for Anthony LaPaglia's patriarchal agent Malone, easily his best performance ever.
I didnt catch it on TV when it aired, so I have to ask the question that I am sure many other have before me: where are you Season 3 through 7?
WITHOUT A TRACE 1
2009-09-13 - The only thing I didn't like about season one was the case it came in. Thank God the second season was normal casing. I like being able to grab one DVD case not take and unfold you need a place to rest it while taking them out.
I have been emailing the station for 2 reasons. One I am a new watcher of Without a trace and wanted to know what season the show is in. The second question was I see all other shows come back next week but do not see Without a Trace on there lineup. I wanted to know when the season would start. needless to say 2 emails 2 weeks and NO answer.
This is a great show and I recommend it to anyone who likes mistery's
5 stars for the show, 3 for the disks (and a huge minus for the seller)
2009-08-17 - The show is great, no problem with anything about acting, plots, etc etc But - as it happened before - putting series on both sides of the disk drastically reduces quality. In my case, I bought the 1 season from a dealer, watched about half of it, then never finished until a year later. Found out that disk 3 side B - the 2 final episodes - did not exist there. Or may be they exist but the DVD player says "No disk" to side B. I have no idea whether the disk was like this at manufacturing, or the seller simply did not mention that there was a serious problem with the disks. But because of the time lapse, there is nothing I can do except buy a new copy - this time directly from Amazon - and hope for the best.
This happened before with the double sided disks. I hope for better quality with the next seasons.
Super!
2009-03-02 - Got it; love it. Just as described. Thanks for the great service. When is season 3 coming out?
Without A Trace 1st season
2009-01-07 - This product arrived in perfect unopened conditioned as stated when I purchased it. My husband and I are enjoying it very much. Amazon is the best place to find hard to find favorite DVD series.
