Editorial Review:
Rammstein, Rosenrot

East German industrial titans follow up 2004's Reise Reise with this fifth studio album, whose title translates as "Rose Red". It consists of leftover material from the Reise Reise sessions which the band felt strong enough to merit a release in its own right. On this album they continue to broaden their palette with a track in Spanish and a duet with Texas's Sharleen Spiteri on "Stirb Nicht Vor Mir" ("Don't Die Before Me"). Includes the single "Benzin" ("Petrol").

Rosenrot Reviews:
Rammstein 5 Star Review
2009-09-24 - I think it was a bit different than their previous material. I absolutely love the song "Don't die before I do". I give it 5 stars. I've been a Rammstein fan for a long time and will remain one.

Bold.... 5 Star Review
2009-09-11 - Their latest Album, Rammstein proves again why I love them so much. Though I don't speak German or care to know what they are saying, the music in this ablum carries me away it's strange and dreamlike atmosphere of synthesized choirs and slow heavy beats.

Among my favorites are "Woe Bist Du?" and "Rosenrot", which I feel along with "Fuerer Und Wasser" at the band's best and most moving yet. On par with Reise,Reise's "Ohne Dich", "Woe Bist Du?" calls to mind something of a Epic poem like Beowulf (not the film, the story) with it's powerful, operatic vocals and moving synthesize passages.

"Rosenrot" seems to convey something darker and more atmospheric, even the banned video which I'm sure is somewhere on YouTube denotes something sinister.

The most power of the entire CD has to be "Fuerer Und Wasser", in which begins at a smoldering pace and explodes into a powerful crashing crescendo near the end.

In my opinion, the barnburner of a first track "Benzin" (translated as Petrol or Fuel) is quite a compliment to the band's penchant for pyrotechnics in their shows.

While there are some weaker points in the CD, the most hilarious is "Te Quiero Puta!" (I'm not going to translate the spanish part, lol, but it's something bad). Hearing Till Lindemann sing in spanish complete with a Mariachi style trumpet accompanyment left me rolling in fits of laughter. But I still dig it, even if I know what the spanish translates to in english, and like most rock music, it's pretty darn dirty. Lol, but good for laughs.

The entire CD closes on the haunting note of "Ein Lied", which in itself sounds quite claustrophobic yet deeply intimate when stripped of all the chugging guitars, thundering bass and so-accurate-you-can-set-your-watch-by-it drum time.

While a completely different departure from their last album, Rammstein still seems to have an edge even if something is horribly weak.

That's my two cents.

boring 2 Star Review
2009-07-15 - The production was well polished and high quality. However, I couldn't help but feel bored listening to it. It almost appears that they are going through the motions musically, while saving their efforts for adolescent lyrics and wild live shows. There are some bits of varied musicality and language, with a slow partially English ballad, and an 'industrial Mariachi' song in Spanish. But, the core seems to be hard hitting without enthusiasm.

High-Quality, Original German Rock 4 Star Review
2009-01-25 - "Rosenrot" came out a few years after "Reise, Reise", but the songs on the album are from the same recording sessions. In my book, though, just as worth it, when you factor in the awesome sound-quality, musical "tightness" and overall artistic value of the CD. Not recommended for the queasy, though - as with all other Rammstein albums - since the lyrics can be quite dark, and the music VERY heavy.

Not a must-have for Rammstein fans, but a great buy for those who want to know the band.

oh well 3 Star Review
2008-10-16 - I am a fan of Rammstein because they make good and I can't really think of a bad song that they've made but I was disapointed with this cd. Most of the songs are at a slower pace which is okay because I do like their slower ballads like Seemann, Nebel, or Ohne dich but I also really like there heavy fast side too and you don't get to see too much of that here.

There are a few fast songs like Benzin, Mann gegen Mann and Zerstoeren which are okay but they are easily forgetable and repetitive and don't stand out too much. Some of their earlier songs were a little repetitive but they were still good and they pumped you up these songs don't seem to work the same way. The only good fast song is Te quiero puta!, which is sung in Spanish and it has some Mexican music thrown in which makes it stand out and the words are also funny.

Most of the slower songs also suffer from not standing out and being easily forgotten and kind of boring like the Hilf mir, Feuer und Wasser, Ein Lied and Spring. They are all okay songs and each of them have parts I like and they have good lyrics too but they don't stand out that much. The ones that I really like and think stand out are Wer bist du? Stirbt nicht vor mir and Rosenrot.

This is an okay cd with some good songs and mosty okay songs and I would recommend it to Rammstein fans unless you only like there heavier side in which case you probaly won't like this one. Hopefully their next cd will filled with more touching and memorable songs like their earlier cd's.
