yes, the sound quality is not so great 
2004-11-21 - this is Ray "raw." Perfection,no matter how lousy the sound. And actually,the sound isn't that bad.The recordings of Bessie Smith are pretty horrible,but you have to look past the recording quality and listen to the heart of the music.It is also an interesting compilation,because Ray started out imitating Nat"King" Cole,and you can hear that on a few cuts on this CD. I just wish we could be looking forward to another album..but his voice will never be stilled.He was without peer.
Bad Sound 
2002-03-13 - This CD makes Ray Charles sound like he is singing into a tin can. Terrible sound quality.
