    Harold and Maude Reviews:
Weird and Wonderful 5 Star Review
2009-11-09 - This movie is one of my all-time favorites. Not everyone shares my enthusiasm, however, because Harold, a young man whose Socialite mother is pushing him to get married, is completely obsessed with staging suicides. The reason for these antics is revealed later in the movie.
Harold (Bud Cort) is a loner unable to find anyone to whom he can relate, until he accidentally bumps into Maude (Ruth Gordon), a 79 yr old "free spirit." Her spontaneous actions and philosophy in life, shaped by her unpleasant past, appeals to Harold and he gradually finds the soulmate for whom he is searching. This obviously horrifies Harold's mother and family associates.
The situations throughout the movie are very funny, enhanced by a great Cat Stevens score.
Maude's philosophy will have a positive appeal to anyone looking at life through jaded lenses.
The movie's ending is emotionally intense but surprisingly satisfying. This movie is considered a "cult classic," so that should alert you to the fact that not everyone may like its humor. However, I believe it is one of the great films from the early 1970s. If you consider yourself a "free spirit" you will probably like this film.

Forever a Classic 5 Star Review
2009-09-25 - This film is incredibly moving & emotional. i watch it at least six times a year. features one of the very best soundtracks of all time, which is sadly difficult to find outside the film itself. if you are looking for a movie that is dark, funny, and touching, this is an absolute must-buy every time.

Harold and Maude- I give it 2 thumbs up and 5 stars or better! 5 Star Review
2009-07-04 - I urge anyone who hasn't seen this movie to watch it! This movie is all kinds of stuff all in one movie, romance, drama, action, violence (not too much), just a little of everything. I think once you watch it, you will agree that we all need a Maude in our lives. She lives every single minute to the fullest. It is a hard movie to describe because the words in explaining it cause people to be judgemental. Her Love Of Life is contagious! She teaches others to live. This is a bitersweet movie. Before, when someone would ask me my all time favorite movie, it was "Somewhere In Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymore, and it is a wonderful movie, but now my all time favorite is Harold and Maude. I got it on amazon used for less than 4 bucks! Can't beat that! You know, usually the book is better than the movie, but that isn't so in this movie. The movie is wayyyy better than the book. I hope you all watch it. I actually first watched it online. I don't know how I did it, it didn't cost me anything, but I can't figure out how I did it. I am so glad I did though. Now I own it and probably have watched it 4 times. It's one of those movies that get better when you watch them the second time because you catch things that you missed before. I would LOVE to know how you all feel about the movie if you watch it. You can send me email at itsmerg58@aol.com

Ruth Gordon in her finest hour! 5 Star Review
2009-06-12 - Ruth Gordon was exceptional in "Rosemary's Baby," but she shines far and away better here than any performance of her career in this cult classic. One viewing and you'll understand. Best of the best!

    comedy 5 Star Review
2009-06-04 - Great comedy love story, which has a meaning, that age doesn't matter when you fall in love. Prompt delievery, excellent service!
